Some of this year's Christmas cards are even designed to double as decorations. W*hat better way to welcome your holiday guests than with a wreath made from the Christmas cards you have received? Designers suggest that you cut a hollow circle from a two-foot square of mat 'board and cover the whole circle with cards. Add a fat bow made from wide ribbon trimmed with sequins, and hang the wreath on a'" protected door or over the mantel. When setting out to give your home a holiday treatment, don't overlook the possibility of decorating the stairway. For an appealing effect, place branches of greenery along the full length of the railing, securing them with florist's wire or cord. Then space Christmas cards along the covered railing, wiHng them to the branches. Christmas cards can be used to decorate fireplace screens, lamp shades and many other household, furnishings to add to the holiday spirit. Many families pin or tape their caids to lengths of wide ribbon and run these festive banners around interior arches, arid doorways. A Christmas card train, consisting of engine, tender and three cars, can be displayed on the mantel, under the tree or as a table centerpiece. Its open-top cars ' accommodate incoming Christmas cards, displaying them attractively. Another Christmas card t^iat in itself is a handsome decoration is a manger scene with its figures of Maiy, Joseph the Christ Child, shepherds and the Three Wise Men. Like the Christmas train, the manger scene fits easily on a mantel or* table. • The Christmas cards you receive will say "Season's Greeting" twice if you display them in gay home decorations such as these. t>ast Sunday we sponsored the film "Miracle on 34th Street." We had two groups from out of town come. They were Cary and Crystal Lalte. ThlS Sunday will be a busy one for M.Y.F.'ers. At 4 o'clock, we will present our annual Christmas party, "Why the Chimes Rang." Mrs. Stinespriiig is our dii ector and Sue Stinespring is assistant director. Stage hands are Terry Lishamer and Larry Thomas. Lights are being taken care of by Scott Bacon and Donna Barger. On the prop committee are Betty Wright and Karl Stueben; costumes, Kathy Anderson and Norman Eggert;; and make-up, Jackie Moss. The cast is made up of Penny Fike, Barb Eggert, Dale Johnston, Dale Himposter, Bruce Nelson, Mark Zimmerman, Jenny De Young, Bobby Johnson, Dick Sandford and Don Kice. After the program we will eat a sack lunch which we should bring and hot cocoa will be provided. Then we will go Christmas caroling to shutins and oldi people's homes. Betty Wright, reporter What makes some rich people so mean is that they think they are entitled to more happiness than they are getting. fietiuns to Hospital Last Wednesday night, Mrs. Mabel Matterer was returned to Memorial hospital.- She will undergo further treatment and observation. "Aunt Mabel," as she is affectionately known, was feeling somewhat better according to the last reports we had. A "sunshine shower" of cards from her friends will do much to speed her recovery. Here are some tips on <how to buy that Christmas tie. Keep in mind that most men like conservative neckware. Buy colors that go with or contrast well with his suits. Avoid such patterns as flower prints, outdoor scenes, fried - egg patterns, splotched effects. Try such favorites as regimental stripes or neat small designs regularly spaced. If pattern problems baffle you, solve them by getting solid colors -- even if they don't seem exciting to buy, they're favorites with many men.
