TEE McHBNRY- PUUNDEAIiBR UKEMOOR & LILYMOOR By MarceUtt FOBS p^-r LOM to the Community p".4;'VN«iw Year's Day brought the passing of one of the community's finest residents. At 7:20 p.m., at Victory Memorial hospital in Waukegan, Jack Laulsihger pass ed away. Jack had been iir for tiiife past few months but was rushed to the hospital on Friday morning by - ambulance. An operation was to take place but due to Jack's weakened condition it was impossible to perform. Jack was a resident of Lakemoor since 1931 and lived with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fast. Mr. Laubinger lay at rest in the George Justen funeral home until Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., when Services were held and the body taken to Chicago to the Acacia cemetery. Jack was well known in the plumbing business and even during his illness he would insti uct the people who called him on how to do the job they needed him for. We will all miss him and Our sympathy goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Fast, with whom he resided. House Committee The house committee will have a meeting tills Friday at 9 p.m. in the fire house. All members should try to attend this meeting. Home From Hospital Billy Daley, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Daley, was operated on Dec. 23 and is now home and On the road to recovery. "Dumplings" Wirfs was in St. fctancis hospital in Evanston for another operation" on her leg last week but we are very glad to hear that she is now home' and doing fine. " In Hospital Jerry Gannon, who just brought her husband home from the hospital, is now a patient herself in the Woodstock hospital. I hope by the time this news comes out Jerry will again be home. Accident Art Levand had the misfortune last week of turning over on the road and although he was not seriously injured the car was practically demolished. The arm was burned quite badly but there were no broken borfes. LXA. This will be the first of many reminders to all of you to keep open Feb. 14 when the L.I.A. will sponsor a benefit dance for the volunteer fire department of Lakemoor. - This will also be our annual whoopee party and threefourths of the proceeds will go to the fire department. Danny Rio will also be there that night to entertain us. Our usual smorgasbord will be served. So come on out and get your tickets early. We hope they will be, on sale this week. Ticket chairman is Mi s. Helen Buchwalter. Under New Management We will miss the Boosters from the Charm House very much but I am sure we will all get to like Pat Pierotte just as well and we wish her the best of luck in her new undertaking. iformerly owned by the Wise family, injured his hand quite ; seri. ously at work this past week. Mr. Hueckstaedt of Lilymoor had his holidays saddened by .the death of his mother in Chicago on Monday of this week. Home From Hospital The holidays, though saddened1 for some, were made happier for others such as the George Wegener family with, t*e return of Mr. Wegener from the Woodstock hospital. Also , Jerry Gannon's husband was home, from the hospital after his operation in time for the Christmas holidays. Auxiliary Meeting " The holidays did not keep the auxiliary from having a successful meeting this past week in the Community House. Just a Reminder Anyone having any news they desire put into this column please call 521-R-l before Monday noon and I will gladly have it printed for you. I cannot know what is going on all over and a little help from all will make this column ^nivch more interesting to all. Thank you! (This copy was received too late for last week's paper.) Holiday Mishaps Early last week Mrs. \ Alice Wade had the misfortune to injure her leg on the escalator stairs in a subway in Chicago while £oing to work. Although there was no serious injury, many a painful hour was spent in the healing of the bruises inflicted by the folding stairway. Fred Checchne, who now occupies the home "This Will Do," Christmas Party On Sunday, Dec. 19, one of the most successful Christmas parties ever held in Lakemoor took place in the fire house. Approximately 300 children attended and received gifts and popcorn from Santa. The Brownies rendered songs and a poem was read by Marge Ehrhardt. Thanks to all the Women who helped handle the children that day. Christmas Decqntlopi Many mpre hoihes, this aije decorated on the outsj well as .the inside. Going down Sheridan road, the decorated homes give; one such a holiday spirit we hate to see these days coming to an end. On the smpll beach road Edward Kamin, J*-., And Stewart Clark haVe done2 a tyeiutiful job of decorating the front of their home. A beautiful tree stands on the patio' with flood lights shining upon it.' The stairway railing is decorated With greens of Christmas trees; Christmas Eve Christmas Eve found the Sheridan road "bunch" gptng around making their Christmas cails on the neighbors. Open house for the evening is held by most of these families and anyone is cdirdfafty invited to drop in and enjoy the holiday spirit with them. Christmas Carolers It was very heart-warming to be trimming a Christmas tree when all of a sudden you stopped and listened to the voices of small children at your do6r singing Christmas carols. Marge Beahler deserves a. lot of credit for going out with the small children of Lakemoor and bring-; ing into our homes the Christmas carols sung by the children. At the same timfc the little boys who came around sieging carols on Christmas Eve deserve as much credit. Injured Joe Cammarata's son was injured while slicing meat when his sleeve caught in the slicer.
