Election Notice In answer to questions received from many of our residents, I wish to confer the following information in regard to th® forthcoming election April 19. This election will be for three trustees for the village board. Those whose terms end this year are Phillip Kibbe and Raymond Cynowa. There is also a vacancy which was made when Clifford Kiehl moved out of the community. The present offices of president, magistrate, village clerk and three remaining trustees do not terminate until April, 1957. LIA News Saturday evening the, LXA. held a successful "come as you are" party in the Community house. This party proved what good sports people really are when they arrived in the outfits which the committee found them in during • the past week. They were caught early in the morning, mid-afternoon and late at night, and everyone who came wore exactly what we found them !tt. Old house dresses, brunch (oats, overalls, pajamas and fttbes all were quite interesting see. Thanks for the cooperation in putting over this party. At the business meeting it was voted on that dues of the club covers all members of the family iimder 18 years of age. Only paid up members are entitled to enjoy the monthly socials with the exception of any guest night meeting, at which time prospective members or any guests may attend. Members will be notified A letter of thanks was received from Mr. McGee for the contribution of $90.35 towards the Woodstock Memorial hospital fund. The next regular monthly meeting will be held March 19. In February is the Whoopee par ty and this will eliminate the regular monthly meeting. " There was dancing to both juke box and accordion music, games were played and refreshments served. Helen Para made barbe cued hamburgers and with this was served potato chips and cake and coffee. Ladies who furnished the delicious cakes were Mrs. Sarley, Mrs. Wade, Mrs McDermott, Mrs. Brady and Olive and Jessie Corbett. Grab bag gifts were also exchanged. Fire Department- News Last*' Tuesday evening there was an election of officers in the fire department. The new officers are Fire Chief Frank Bitterman, Assistant Chief Harry Strnad and Secretary Raymond Cynowa. Congratulations to the new officers and we wish you the best of luck in the next year. Visits in Sweden Ivan Gustafson left Saturday morning from Midway airport for Sweden. He arrived at Copenhagen on Sunday at 2:40 p.m., and then went to Smalon to visit with his dad, who is ill. On his return trip, IvanWill stop in Paris, London and Glasgow. He will be gone for ten w^eks. When talking to him last week he informed me he was taking quite a few rolls of film which (if they turn out) he will be only too glad to show to the auxiliary at one of their future meetings. It is really something to lopk forward to. Birxndays On Jan. 12 Marge Williams celebrated her birthday. On Jan. 22, Corky Foss, Ray Cynowa, Jr., and Lenny Szarek will celebrate their birthdays. Roy Erickson will have his birthday on Jan. 23. Fun Club The Fifti club had their meeting at Jenny McDermott's home fast Wednesday evening. Girls who were lucky and took home the prizes were Emma Kunz, Pat Morrison, Doris Kibbe and Lou Bitterman. A late supper was served. Illness Last Tuesday night at bowling we were all sorry to learn that Doris Fuhler was ill with pneumonia. It's been some time since Jean has been out and she fooled us this time by not bringing any rain with her. Brownie News There are two new assistants in the Brownies. They are Mrs. Hatch and Mrs. Karris. Marge Beahler, one of the Brownie leaders, would like to convey this message to the girls who are on the Brownie waiting list.
