Save Farmhouse A Wonder Lake couple probably saved a large farm home on Route 120 from burning to the ground last week. M^. and Mrs. Herbert Howorka, Jr. were driving along Route 120 last Sunday toward Woodstock when they; saw flames emerging from the' roof of the Clyde Clark residence, at the Highland Shores intersection. The Howorkas stopped and notified the darks, who were absorbed in a television play and were unaware of the fire quietly eating into the roof above them. Next door the Clarks' son, Gordon, and his wife were1 also busy watching a television show on a set in the opposite comer from where they could see his parents' home. Gordon Clark and his sister were aible to put the fire out before firemen arrived. This farmhouse, built in 1885, was placed on the site of a homestead erected by Clyde Clark's parents. This earlier residence burned to the ground in the winter of 1885 and neighbors of that early day aided in the building of the present house.
