DISCONTINUE SERVICE On July 1, 1895, the Illinois Department of - Public Health will discontinue iita .practice of paying for the carfe of prfertiature babies at hospital centers in Peoria, Springfield and East. St. Louis. Dr. Roland R. Cross, state health director, said this action does not mean that the three centers will have to close, but rather merely indicates tihat the expense of such care must be met from sources other than the at ate health department. A program for special care of prematurely born infants was initiated by the health department in 1943, Dr. Cross said. The work grew until in 1954 about 900 bobies were cared for in the three centers at a cost of about $300,- 000 to the department. Other hospitals in Illinois are also now able to provide higihi quality care; and the department does not have the money to expand the program so as to include prematurely born babies in all needy families, Dr. Cross added. Texas A. and M. College furnished more officers ito the Army im World War II tham did West Point. '• SERVICE TNI nUCHPTIQN FHAiMACf At it Again! Bill Ricks and Clarence Smith are at it once again. As you . know, last week Clarence gifted Bill with a bird house. Well, BUI I was .pleased with it, to say no- :thing of how well the birds liked it. Bill's only comment was that i he wished it was made for a , dove. That would be a symbol of [ .peace. i * Well, boys, I think with this II little notation we should call it ;. quits before something^ that •; started as a joke gets out of 1 Expert... BOLGER'S S. GREEN ST. PHONE 40 McHENRY, ILL. IKE T O R E Before you buy any range, find out Which is Faster I FLAME TYPE 5 minutes 31 seconds--still below boiling point ELECTRIC 5 minutes 31 seconds--at boiling point RESULTS OF RECENT IMPARTIAL RESEARCH: Independent engineers of the R. W. Hunt Company (who made this series of tests) staged: "We ran several speed studies--comparing 3 modern flame-type ranges against 3 modern electric ranges. One electric surface unit boiled a quart of water in 5 minutes and 31 secopds. That was 56 seconds faster than the best flame-type burner tested. We made twenty-ope tests in all. Results showed that the three electric ranges averaged 40 seconds faster than the three flametype ranges." (All ranges tested were top brands.) The answer: Nothing cooks faster than today's electric ranges! If you have to get meals in a hurry, you know speed is important. But modern electric cooking offers more than speed. For instance, when you cook vegetables the waterless electric way, the flavor is all there! And don't worry about scorching, because the electric unit heats the pan evenly. There's no cooler way to cook than with a new electric range. Electric ovens are BO well insulated they keep your kitchen up to 10 degrees cooler than flame-type. Heard about our New Installation Plan? It can save you important money on installation of a new electric range. The Plan is available at all appliance dealers' and Commonwealth Edison or Public Service Company stores. Makes owning an electric range so reasonable there really isn't any reason to wait.
