Kefiheth M. - GonsetJh, whose wife, Eleanor, lives at 229 Redman ave., Haddonfield, N.J., is attending the supply management course at the Army's Quartermaster School, Fort Lee, Va. The course is designed to acquaint officers and civilians occupying executive positions in the Army siipply system with the various phases of supply management. Col. Gonseth, son of Mrs. Jules E. Gonseth, McHenry, entered the Army in 1939 and is a veteran of service in the Far East. He was graduated from the University of Illinois in 1939 and from Harvard university, Cambridge, Mass., in 1948. The colonel is a imember of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Johanna', the former Christina Freund, celebrated her ninetieth birthday anniversary at St. Anthony's convent, St. Louis, Mo., on May 20. She was born in 1865 in Johnsburg. Sister Johanna entered the convent in March of 1885, seventy years ago, and was the first Jd'nsburg girt to do so. After taking her vows, she served at hospitals in Racine and Milwaukee, Wis. For thirty-two years she was at the House of Providence in Chicago and thirteen years ago retired. She is .in fairly good health ami spends most of her time reading and crocheting. Sister Johanna is most grateful to all of her relatives and friends for cards, flowers and spiritual offerings in . remem brance of her birthday. At that time his parents operated the Stilling hotel at 'the Bay. i Following graduation from the j local hig>'.i' school and St. Viator's J college in Bourbonnais, he served jwith the ground Air Corps duri ing World War I. i Returning to McHenry, he • went into the real estate busij ness with his father and -the two ; successfully conducted the firm I for a number of years. Later, he became associated with the Chester Horton Golf school in Chicago as a teacher andi subsequently became golf pro at tf-.e McHenry Country club. Here, his patience was rewarded when he noted the outstanding progress made as a result .of his instruction. For fifteen years prior to his last illness, Mr. Stifling had betfn affiliated^ with the Wall Fill firm and was most successful in this undertaking. He was interested in all- sports and was especially proficient at bowling, hunting and fishing, as well as at golf. He was generous in sharing his knowledge with others and many are the young bowlers in McHenry who benefitted! from r.-.is talent. J The deceased was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, American Legion and Holy Name society. Survivors include a brother, George, and four sisters, Eva and Lillian Stilling and Viola Juergens of McHenry and Rosalie Barnickol of Chicago.
