J0HMSBUR6 HAS EASY TIME WITH BOOSTERS. 14-1 Tigers Travel To Algonquin Sunday Where Battle Looms The Johnsburg Tigers entertained the Crystal Lake Boosters last Sunday afternoon in a lopsided ball game that ended 14 to 1, not in favor of the visiting team. ' The Boosters came up with a patch-quilt outfit that is supposed to gain strength with the landing of a few college boys ere another Sunday dawns. The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning and for all practical purposes that was enough. But, the game moved on ansa was completed in 2 hours and 15 minutes despite a lot of activity. The Boosters wrapped two hits around a base on balls in the fourth for their only run. John Toomey was pitching for Johnsburg at this point, enjoying a good margin. Ed Jackson pitched the last 'three innings, allowing only one hit. A Goggin couldn't get the ball over in the second so Rudy gave it a whirl with fair success until the sixth. Then it was McMillan's turn to throw. With a fast delivery and ability to hit the corners, McMillan got along just fine in two out of three innings. The power boys, notably a triple toy Lloyd Freund, gave him trouble with three runs in the seventh. The box score shows LdoyO Freund with 5 runs in only 2 official times at bat. He walked the first three trips. Manager Joe Frett had a chance to substitute freely as the complexion of the game caused no undue nerve strain in the masterminding department. CRYSTAL LAKE MERCHANTS TOP McHENRY 4 T03 Boosters Come To Town Next Sunday And Micks Plan For the third straight game the Shamrocks have lost by that narrowest of margins -- 1 fun. This time it was the Merchants who turned the trick 4 to 3 at Crystal Lake. The McHenry team scored a run in the fifth when A1 Bockman singled, stole second and came home as Howard Knox got his second hit. It was in the last of the fifth that the Merchants scored all of their runs. And "Sonny" Miller could have been out of trouble in this one if an error hadn't shown up when the third out should have been accomplished. Singles by Dale Feffer and Norm Britz followed. Then tame a triple by Wahlin, a young first baseman whose 4 for 4 made him the demon batsman of the day In the Shamrocks scheme. The McHenry boys looked at some pretty good pitching dished up by a fellow naimetdi Olesen. Schooner gave ithe McHenry team a ray of hope when he got a pinch hit in the eighth, but no help came along to edge that important run around the bases. The girls fell far short of the necessary expense money to continue playing untdier the lights. It is hoped •that the people of McHenry will oome out and watch our girls play. The manager is sure once our girls settle down you will see sofitball games that will - be a pleasure to watch. f Next week the Speedettes play host to a newly organized Chicago team, "The China Dolls." Though these players are playing together for the first time, -the members of this team are all seasoned ball players.
