On June -14 a Flag tournament is scheduled along with an open meeting after lunch. McHenry Sand & Gravel scored 8 of their 14 runs in the fifth inning. Ted Popp and Ted Mc- Nish had homers in the fifth. Old Bridge Tavern scored 8 runs in the top half of the 7th inning, putting the Mchenry Sand & Gravel on edge. Top hitters were H. Knox and R. Michels. Winning pitcher: Bob Kilday. Losing pitcher: A. DIES Irf £l*Gm Mrs Mary Lew Perry, 6J5, a native of McHenry and the wife of A. Edwin Perry, died Thursday, June 2, at her Elgin home following a lingering illness. The deceased was born Jan. 2, 1890, a daughter of George and Margaret Curtis Owen, and had resik)ed in Elgin for more tfyan sixty years. She was married to Mr. Perry Jan 12, 1909. Besides the widower, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. R. O. Williams, of Elgin, a brother, N. C. Owen, of San Francisco, and three grandsons. Funeral rites were conducted Saturday afternoon Elgin, with burial in Bluff City cemetery. MURPHY-HENSCHEL RITES ' Miss Virginia Murphy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Murphy of Fox River Grove, became the bride of Mr. Raymond Henschel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Henschel of McHenry, last Saturday, June 4. The couple exchanged vows before Rev. Fr. Kilderry at St. Peter and St. Paul church, Cary. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Tomlinson are the parents of a daughter, born at Memorial hospital on June 8. They will attempt to rim the courses, set up by .the other patrols bit their next meeting. «• Summer camp money and insurance applications are coming in fine, reports the troop scribe, Fred Wahl. Troop Librarian Bob Haug read an article of Scout news to the troop. Congratulations were bestowed on Steve Fike and Gerald Foute for the fine job they did; in carrying the flag in the Memorial Day parade. Senior Patrol Leader Robert Jessup had Candidate Scouts Steve Olson, Kerr and Kettipffcr lead the troop with the pledge to the flag as part of the formal opening. Davy Crockett camporee pat* ches were issued to Robert Rodde, Tom Counley, Eddie Mara, Fred Wahl, Bill Anderson, Steve Fike, Randy Hughes, Bob Jessup, Bill and Jim Kirk. The Green Bar group had its second meeting, with election of officers. Crystal LaUce chose Flying Eagle for its name, McHenry 162 chose Fox for a patrol name and 164 chose Eagle. The new Bird patrol from 161 joined us. H. Kirk and Louis Swedo. GRANT CONTINUANCES Continuances were granted by Judge Carroll last week in three criminal cases pending in the circuit court. June 17 was set as the date to hear pleas of Donald Krueger, 22, and Walter Konieczko, 17, charged with burglary and larceny at the Gunt home in- McHenry Feb. 24.
