P HONOR .©RIGHT m Home Movies--Fun to Shoot arid Show Every day more families are becoming aware of the wonderful fun of hogie-movie making and showing. Family activities, vacations, travel, sports events, parades, fishing, boating, the children at play --in all of thesr. there is a wealth of movie material unrivaled by even the best of Hollywood scenarios. Not that today's homemovie maker expects to compete with Hollywood. He doesn't -- simply because his aims are different His prime purpose is to record personal experiences, adventures, achievements and development-- and then to show them at home to family and friends who'll enjoy sharing happy times and intimate highspots as the reels unwind. Home movies, however, can be Just as smooth as the professional product There are a few simple techr'queb of continuity and interest to be learned -- and from then on, you won't have to make any apologies for the quality of your movie-making. Instead of being merely yards and yards of "animated snapshots," your movies will tell a story smoothly, clearly an colorfully. And pretty soon you can expect to have "Standing Room Only" every time u's movienight at your house! Instead of isolated shots, your movie camsra should shoot in sequences-- telling a story in motion and color just about Uie way you would tell it if you w.are relating an incident to a friend. This will give your movie story its needed continuity. For interest, you will do well to remember pace and distance. In other words, one shot may require twelve seconds to establish a certain point; another, only three or four. Some of your shots should be taken at a greater distance; others will be more effective as close-ups. And always plan on using plenty of film, so that you can edit if necessary without losing any essential parts of your story. If you use 8mm film, your movies need not be jhown on a screen much more than a yard wide. That's plenty large enough for the average home-movie presentation to a relatively small group of people. Movies made on 16mm film can be projected for much larger livingroom grouH- or church and club get-togethers. --John Van Guilder SONNY SOUTH By COURTNEY ALDERSON It Pays to Advertise In The McHenry Plaindealei Until Man § Bites a Dog 1 I 9jf Anyone, V Dies V Elopes > V Has a Party V Receives an Award V Has a Baby V Makes a Speech V Gets Married V Holds a Meeting V Buys a Home V Has Guests V Goes Away or Moves V Has a Fire Vis 111 V Has an Operation V Has an Accident V Builds a Home V Wins a Prize V Or Takes Part In Any Other Unusual Event THAT'S N E W S AND WE WANT IT BY TUESDAY OF EACH WEEK JUST CALL The McHenry Plaindealer PHONE 170 J.J.WARREN, of N.grook-ftald, Mass., owns IS RHODE kLMt> HENS, who set a WORLD'S record bq Laying 3966 EGGS in ONE "Y6AR / '-rrir SHOULD SOTO PBNTiSTSI tJoVINES OFTEN ©ET - it TOOTH TROUBLES WHICH |° DISTURB THEIR REST AND a EFFECT THEIR EATING/ MEM HEAH IS A DIME TO VO( SLINGSHOT.
