We like everything about summer except hot weather. You streamlined individuals may be able to take it, but pity the rest of us. Dick Conway, one of the best, has been added to our list of those interested in a Shamrock Day. The rest of you "Micks" fet us know if you are interested. We'll get the wheels in motion. Little League baseball is again proving that people will turn out in great numbers to see athletic events in the evening or at night. County League baseball would draw big under lights. Some day. We aren't all broken up about it, but mildly disturbed because the State Semi-Pro Baseball Tournament hews releases are not timed for weekly newspapers. The McHenry County League has two teams still In the state race. One of their games will be played this (Thursday) at 9 p.m. We hope to be perched in the Stands. Trying to get complete news coverage on all sports in this are&. takes a bit of doing. We are grateful to all those who are helping. Some departments will get broader coverage as time goes on -- like your old rockin' chair. Outdoor sports are next in line. We plan a special feature for fishermen, hunters and trappers. News from the state department of conservation will be blended with local news items. Let's have some items from you men of the great outdoors. Win Hagberg, of Sip-Snack f$me, made quite a tour of the Milwaukee baseball grounds a While back. The boys told Win they would meet him near "that pile of dirt." How was Win supposed to know they would move that pile a mile away while he was watching the game? A note on our hook asks us to mention Hulla-Ba-Loo Day dt ^the McHenry . Country Club. ^Tuesdpy, Aug. 2. This is the big day for the ladies. The menu calls for golf, luncheon, cards, special putting contest, dinner and entertainment. You can get your ticket through a member or at the Pro Shop at the Country Club. No men allowed, but a little bird once told us that the girls have just one heck of a good time. Manager Larry Stilling and his , Shamrock team are ridin' high Since their 2 to 0 win at Algonguin last Sunday. The McHenry team now holds second place in the standings and Seems to be on the upgrade. Next Sunday the Fox Lake ®ine comes to town with a flashy feouthpaw pitcher. McHenry wants like all get DUt to win this one. The boys want to stay up there in the standings. Play-offs are coming. Manager Joe Frett taJkes his Tigers to Richmond next Sunday where Ray Miller's team is always tough to beat. 2 TO 0 BATTLE AT ALGONQUIN Miller Hurls Shul- Out To Win Extra- Inning Bail Game The Shamrocks of McHenry went down to Algonquin last Sunday afternoon and. battled the Simplex Ironer baseball team to a scoreless tie for nine inningfc before putting over two . runs for victory in the tenth. "Sonny" Miller and Don Wilbrandt hooked up in a real old fashioned pitching duel with Miller holding the edge in several departments. He allowed only 7 hits with not more than one in any inning. Both were stingy on walks, Miller giving only one and Wilbrandt two. Miller fanned three and nary a Shamrock went down on strikes. Double plays, a scarce item these days, played a big, part in keeping runners from the plate. In the fourth, Sahs fired to Jack Molidor at the plate- and his return to Bolger at short killed off two. Algonquin had two twin snuff-outs. Scheyli caught Bockman's fly in the sixth and nailed Miller at the plate. Their second base combination pulled Wilbrandt out of trouble in the ninth. John Bolger led off the tenth with a hit and an error in center moved him up. Both runners were safe as Sahs reached first on a fielder's choice. Miller won his ^wn game with a hit, then held the home team scoreless in their half in spite of a hit and an error that perched two men on base. Shamrocks (2) G. Sahs, 2b G. Molidor, 3b S. GIRL'S WRESTLING MATCH TO FEATURE ROUND LAKE CARD Reggie Lisowski, 27 year old Milwaukee heavyweight and the new sensation "Dick the Bruiser" will clash in the main event of the all star card Friday night, July 22, in the Lake County Stadium in Round Lake Park. The match will be scheduled for a two out of three fall verdict with a sixty minute time limit. Lisowski, a turbulent grappler of Polish descent, recently returned to the midwest after a successful campaign in the west and south. He weighs 245 pounds and is as powerful as his rival "Dick the Bruiser." Reggie was once a weight lifting star in the Cream City and prides himself on his powerful build. Both wrestlers have a sixty-inch chest measurement when expanded. Promoter Fred Kohler will feature a girls' wrestling match on the card with the pretty Ramona TeSelle of Chicago meeting Ada Ash, blonde strong girl of the mat sport. Ada can bend steel bars around her arm and also bend them with her teeth. She uses power holds in her mat maneuvers. There will be a tag match on the show with Mitsu Arakawa and Benito Gardini facing Rey Urbano of the Philippines and Juan Hernandez of Mexico. The new combination of Arakawa and Gardini will form a versatile duo. Arakawa can use judo and jiu jitsu holds as well as the orthodox catch-as-catch-can grips. Gardini is an expert with body slams and though excitable in his actions, fans believe that Four games were played . last week, for the start of the second round.
