The starting date for next month will also be determined on i-h^ night. Please try to attend. Please Take Note! Once again I have been asked taj. remind one and all about following the rescue squad. Persons other than the squad members have been following too close behind, the rescue squad truck, thus slowing up members getting to the scene of emergency. Please, when you see the fire truck or the rescue squad coming through with their lights flashing, .pull over to the side of the road immediately. I'm sure no one would vfcant to hinder the squad's work but there have ^been Mrs. Helen Hetter- such incidents in the past. Dorothy Hettermann Hobbies and photography go together. Take pictures of various members of the family working at their hobbies, as well as close-ups of the items they make or collect. Collect With Your Camera She helped celebrate her same day. Get Ready! Get Set! Go! Yes go to the Memorial park grounds next weekend, Aug. 13, 14 and 15, to Karen Hettermann j attend St. John's annual carnival. third birthday the It's fairly safe to say that practically everybody has some kind of pet hobby--whether it's collecting rare stamps and coins or just old fishing hats and string! And we've always felt that one of the nicest things about photography is the way it can aid and complement the pursuit of almost any other hobby. In fact, it is only by means of picture-taking that many hobbies can become "collecting" hobbies at all. If you're interested in bridges, old buildings, art treasures, railroad engines, aircraft, sailing vessels or old automobile models, your camera is the only method by which you'll be able to bring home items for your collection. Many "collector's items" are fairly small objects, and you'll be shooting them indoors. The easiest method of providing th^ artificial light you need is using a synchronized flash attachment on your camera. But, if you prefer, you can illuminate your collection with photoflood lamps or ordinary household light bulbs and then make a time exposure. In either case, if the items are small, you will want to take closeup shots. With a box-type camera, you'd normally be shooting at a distance of about six feet from your subject. If, at this distance your subject seems lost in the middle of the viewfinder, you'll do well to get a simple close-up attachment that will allow you to move in to three and a half feet. --John Van Guilder Honored at Birthday Gerry Hettermann was pleasantly surprised last Thursday evening with a birthday party in his honor on the lawn of his home. Richard May was the master at 'keeping this party a big secret. Those present for food and drink were Mr. and Mrs. Bill May, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dehn, Mrs. Helen Hettermann, Mrs. Cora Herdrich, Carol Ann Stilling, Betty Lou Keenan, Don Dowe and last, but far from least, the host, Richard May.
