Anonymous Johnsburg Tigers Swamp Algonquin With three batsmen in the 4-hit class, the Johnsburg Tigers let loose with a 21-hit salute last Sunday to trounce the Algonquin nine 19 to 5. One run in the first and six in the second was enough for winning purposes, but the bombardment continued. Nowak was one the 4-hit boys, including a triple in his list. The Freund brothers, Howie and Lloyd, were the others in the select group. Howie had a two-bagger and three singles in his day's work. Oleson, the catcher, who banged a home run and a triple for the winners. St. Pat's and McCullom Lake being tied for first will play this Friday for the championship of the Kiwanis League. Name Two Queens, King At County Junior Fair Frances Hoda, 17, of Fox River Grove, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William lloda, was elected queen of' the junior fair last Thursday evening at the county fairgrounds in Woodstock. Nick Etten, a former big league slugger who hailed from up Spring Grove way, will also be present to speak to the crowd and explain the formation of a Pony League. The V.F.W. Drum and Bugle Corps has promised to be present to add color and zip to the program. They always go over big. At 4 o'clock the Major Leaguers will play their All-Star game. All players in the league are expected to be present for this special event. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights of this week Minor League games will be played to bring the schedule up to date. Tabulations have just come in from Camp Lowden to show that these campers from the McHenry area left a fine record for future campers to emulate, even setting five or six new camp, records. The events under which some of these "blues" were taken are: Dingy-rowing, bow hunt, ropetoss rescue, bridge building, canoe paddling, trail first aid, knot tying, marksmanship, tept pitching, orieniierlng axemanship, signalling, water retrieving and nature. The Scouts scored enough points to take first and third places in the two week's water carnivals. An octet of seven hardy Scouts and one father took the Blackhawk Trail, which is a rigorous one, and are credited with its completion. SERVICES HELD ON TUESDAY FOR CLARA A. SCHAFFER Mrs. Clara Schaeffer, 64, of Crystal Lake, died Friday evening, Aug. 5, at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, where she had been a patient for ten days. She was the widow of Michael Schaffer, formerly of McHenry, who died five years ago. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Leola Conroyd of McHenry and Mrs. Loretta Calonio of Berkeley, Calif.; one sister and three grandchildren.
