Three Way Celebration Tlyree families had good cause to remember Aug. 6. On this momentous day, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Jordan celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary, while their daughter and husband, ' Mr. and Mrs. Dave Marson, toasted their second matrimonial milestone. To top off the festivities, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Larson feted their twenty-eighth anniversary. Mrs. Larson and Mrs. Jordan are Mr. and Mrs. Jake Bushfelds' daughters. Highlight of the day was a ft. delicious dinner, with all the celebrants and the proud parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Bushfeld, join- i ing in. Golden Wedding \ye received a tip that our recent neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Ivar Larson, of Fountain Lane will be celebrating fifty years of wedded bliss this weekend. We will have more details of the celebration next week. This wonderful couple has nine sons and daughters who will be sharing the fun. CENTENNIAL SERVICE Home From The Hospital Mrs. Elsie Osterby returned to ft her home after spending the better part of a week in Highwood hospital in Highland Park, 111. Elsie was the victim of a severe infection which fortunately has been cleared up. Glad wi are to hear that rest and medication will have her back on her feet in jig time. Surgery Performed Mrs. Sylvia Schultz underwent surgery at Memorial hospital, Woodstock, last week and returned to Jier home in River Grove yesterday (Wednesday). Sylvia is Theresa Schultz's sisterin- law. ^ Company From All Over Your reporter and family were delighted with a visit from Mr. *md Mrs. D. R. Capps and children, Linda and Christopher, of South Bend, Ind. Our two families were happily engaged in work for Uncle Sam during World War II and all stationed at NAS, New Orleans, La., before wedding bells rang out. Mr. and Mrs. Art Berg of Spring Road opened their home to favorite friends, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Johnson of Chicago, last weekend. The Willard Schultz home was really jumping with company from the big town. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Goudy of Elmwood Park, Mrs. Edith Tamburino and daughter, Pat, the Messrs Harvey and Donald Simmons, Mrs. Ingeborg Vruno and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Neilsen and son, all of Chicago, were wined and dined by Theresa and Will. Oyer 2,000 Marines in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan today joined the search to pick the Goddess of Liberty this fall. In towns throughout the northern half of Illinois, Marine recruiting sergeants are inaugurating local contests to select finalises in the Goddess of Liberty program. In nearly twenty Illinois towns, under Marine supervision, local Goddesses of Liberty will be selected in preliminary competitions, to enter the October finals in Chicago, it was announced by Major Tom S. Parker. . The Goddess of Liberty contest is being sponsored by the Chicago committee of the American Museum of Immigration to selcct the girl \yho most nearly typifies the ideals of freedom and beauty symbolized by the Statue of Liberty. The American Museum of Immigration is to be built at the feet of the Statue of Liberty as a shrine of American ancestry, to remind all Americans of the contributions to America's greatness made by the people of all nations who immigrated here. The girl selected as the Goddess' of Liberty will win a grand prize of an air trip to Paris. France, for herself and chaperone, accompanied by a Prince, a wardrobe "fit for a Goddess," a modeling course and a Hollywood screen test. The Waukegan contest will be held some time in the first of September. AH girls in Lake county and McHenry county over 16 years of age are eligible for the contest.
