Two engineers residing here, Tom Gleeson and Bud Uttich, with the cooperation of Wally Laurence, planned the numbering system. Mr. aiicl Mrs. Jack Gershon spent an enjoyable week of swimming, fishing, tennis, archery, etc., at the Woodside Ranch inAlauston, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Heber announce the engagement cf their daughter, Margaret, to Donald Mortz. They are to be married some time next summer. The Hebers also have a new grandson born to Mr. and Mrs. George Nellisen, daughter and son-in-law from Chicago The baby was named George,\Jr.. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Prowley and twin daughters from Elmhurst were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Harman Sunday. Sandra Laurence has returned home after vacationing with relatives in Minnesota. C)ur sympathies are extended to Mrs. Glen Uhles on the death of her mother, Mrs. Mennett. Frank Sweeney, Jr.. son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sweeney, spent a week with his grandmother, Mrs. Clarence Sweeney, in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Leigh, Craig and Sharon, spent last weekend in Kankakee visiting j Mrs. Leigh's brother, Bill Foster, j William Meyers has returned home from Memorial hospital. ; where he was placed after suf-' fering a heart attack. Recent visitors of the Tom' Gleesons were Tom's mother and aunt, Mrs. Edwin J. Haefeli, from j Greeley, Colo., and Mrs. A. L. Prouty from Denver, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. John Sulkowski j returned home this week after spending two weeks at Hot Springs, Ark. On Thursday, Sept. 1, Josephine Cina celebrated her seventh birthday with a party. Francine Parisi, Paulette and Joann Rizzo, Mary and Carol Moll, Mary Sweeney and Judy Meineke, all of Lakeland Park, were guests of Josephine. Many happy returns. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Strandquist and son, Wayne, spent their ' vacation at Drummond, Wis., with their friends, the Vic Pitlics. Highlight of the trip was Wayne's catch of a 36-inch northern pike. During the past week, Jim Pureell of Chicago has been visiting with his grandparents, the Herbert Dents. The William Kraters played host to guests from England and Scotland recently. Mrs. Krater's aunt, Mrs. Lily Keeble, of Felix Stowe, Suffolk, England, and her cousin, Susan McDonald, of Newton Mearns, Renfrewshire, Scotland. spent two weeks in Lakeland Park. The members of the Lakeland Park Property Owners association made good' use of the newly acquired picnic tables over the the Labor Day weekend. . Ginger Cheese Dressing makes it heartily satisfying as well aa handsome -- a dish to pep up any party. Apple-Ginger Ring .3^ cups (No. 2^ can) 1 package apple-flavored fruit cocktail gelatin l$i cups fruit syrup and 2 tablespoons lemon juice water Ys to teaspoon ground ginger Ginger Cheese Dressing Drain the fruit cocktail. Measure the syrup and add water to make 1% cups. Bring liquid to a boil. Dissolve gelatin in the hot liquid. Add lemon juice and ginger. Chill until slightly thickened. Then fold in fruit cocktail. Pour into a 1-quart ring mold or individual molds. Chill until firm. Unmold on crisp lettuce. Serve with Ginger Cheese Dressing. Makes 8 servings. Ginger Cheese Dressing 2 cups cottage cheese. cup mayonnaise 2 tablespoons light cream or top milk M teaspoon salt teaspoon ground ginger Combine cottage cheese, mayonnaise, light cream, and seasonings in a bowl. Stir until blended. Chill. Then spoon into the center of Apple* Ginger Ring. Top with paprika, if desired. Shop at Home and SAVE! The socials start at 8:30 p.m. Ill Joe Yaeger, who has been ill for a month, has recuperated. He has been staying with his daughter, Dolores, in McHenry. The family and Joe have left for a vacation to Niagara Falls and Buffalo, N.Y. Chipper Cynowa had his first skin grafting on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Children's Memorial ' hospital in Chicago. Louis Pogany is coming along very well, as is Frank, Jr., who is now at home. Dorothy Schmidt is in Memorial hospital for minor surgery. A cheery message from friends would be appreciated. Brownie News Plans for Brownie activities «are in the making, to start soon after school is under way. Each Brownie will receive a post card telling when the first meeting will take place. , -Fire Department The fire department has plaster board on hand for work on the second floor. Please get in touch with Frank O'Leary or Norman Morrison^ about the work. The fire department needs all the help they can get. The hot dog and sauerkraut dinner will be held" on Saturday, Sept. 24. The dinner will be served from 6 to 8 o'clock. The dinner is sponsored by the fire department and auxiliary. Lou Bitterman is in charge of the tickets for this affair. Illinois state college at DeKalb as a freshman. Helen Para enjoyed' the company for two days of her friend, Catherine Jensen, and her daughter, Nancy, from Maywood. Catherine was a bridesmaid at Helen's wedding and they had a lot of memories to talk aboiit. Marie Fabian spent two days of her vacation with her sister, Ann Brzezinski, this week. Marcella Foss wishes to thank all for their cooperation during the time she was the reporter. She had to resign ' due to other commitments.
