Andersons rolled a high game of 1050, with their newcomer, Rouen Duncan, leading the way with a 231, • and in the same high game Phil Borre had a 212. Shiner Klemstein had a high game of 225 for Millers Corners, so you can see some of the boys really Jiad thfcir eye on the tenpins. Joe Anderlick of Standard Oil had high series of 570 fop- the night, ^ind Anderson's with another high with 2778 total pins for a pretty fair evening's work. We noticed Jiggs Zarnstorf has changed shirts this season, going from Millers Corners to Standard Oil in a trade, however we haven't hea"rd what Millers received as yet. Raynold Anderson and Charley Preund, both captains, had to sit the night out to give their recruits a chance to show their stuff, they did alright too be-' cause both Andersons and Spring Grove both won their first three gaixies. Connie Miller still throws the fastest ball and still has his excellent one game of the night, Connie usually always gets at Jeast one game over two hundred, this night was no exception, he had a 201. What happened to Gene Pickering, wow a 93, and a series of 344? Borre's Win Three In the Richmond women's league the lone entry from Richmond got off to a very fine start by winning alL three games from Twin Lakes Recreation. Borre's aiso had high game for the night with 675 and total pins With 1947 without handicaps, the handicaps frill be established on the next bowling night, which is tonight. High individual game honors went to Phyllis Kriska of Wilmot with 165, and high individual series went to^ Audrey * Miller of Twin Lakes. I talked *to aeyeraJ th§ girls after the bowling last week an<T their ideas of the new automatic pin spotters were real good. They believe that their scores will -be better because of the regularity of the ball returning and the pins never topple over, ii thg- past a pin boy would slip and over the pins would go just as you would get ready to roll the second ball. So the automatics really made a hit with the gals. Men's League Anderson's P. Borre 138 212 181 531 C. Heelein 177 170 17S 520 B. May 174 179 155 508 Duncan 161 231 136 528 M. Sella Call to Bonds Wonder Lake's volunteer fire department is calling in all of the bonds issued to various citizens a-'few years agb and will be completely out of debt when" the bonds are all in. The story back of the bonds is one of community cooperation that resulted in a fine fire bouse, fire trucks and an ambulance. Less than ^ive years ago, Wonder Lake was a part of the McHenry fire district. The community was growing at a tremendous pace and the residents were concerned over the fact that a fire truck had to come - all the way from McHenry. A group of civic minded men formed the Wonder Lake volunteer. department and through their efforts, the Wonder Lake fire district was created. In order for the district to be recognized by the state and accepted by the voters, it was necessary to show that the would be district had a completely equipped fire department and quarters for the equipment. Citizens of the community purchased bonds from the fire department and the money from the bonds was used to erefct the fire house. The district was duty voted into effect, but the work of the firemen went on. They held dances and carnivals, and sponsored other activities. Little by little, the indebtedness was paid off and new equipment was added. Victor Milbrandt is presently the president of the Wonder Lake fire department, John Feyerer is secretary, and Horace Wagner is treasurer. Milbrandt says that the money for paying off the bonds was raised by the carnival last month. He says that many people of the Lake area are donating the amount of their bonds to the Memorial Hospital at Woodstock, or using .the money to pay on their pledges to the hospital's building fund. Last year at this time, the outstanding bonds amounted to more than $3,000. TM, Wanteds SCHOOL DAYS caff for MORE MILK Children going to school require even, more wholesome milk eitty day. It is a new variety giving ^higher yields of grain, greater tonnages of growth for cover crops or forage. Here's what farmers say: "I have grown Tetra Petkus Rye for 3 years. Tetra Petkus Rye has far out-yielded other varieties of rye and even wheat op my farm. I particularly like Tetra Petkus Rye because of its high yield, stiff straw, ease of combining." William H. Sweigard, Jr. "I planted about 13 acres of Tetra Petkus Rye using about 2 bushels per acre. It shows a very ruddy green color in comparison with ordinary rye and a much stronger straw which seems to be a shorter growth, with heavier leaves." Glenn E. Burgess "Tetra Petkus Rye, a new variety developed in Germany, produced wonders for 3 Monmouth County seed growers. Hugh Oakley, Walter Lott and Henry Zdancewic each planted 10 acres of this rye last fall. Hugh's average . yield was 46 bu. A and Henry's 45 bu. A of field run grain.
