A preliminary meeting was held last evening but the attendance was, for one reason or another, small. Married Fifty Years-- Sept. 4 was a happy day for Mr. and Mrs. Martin Stoffel of Pearl street for it was then that they observed their golden wedding anniversary. Their family and close friends called to offer congratulations to the couple on this momentous occasion. Will Have Band-- - McHenry will be given another brass band. This was assured the public at a meeting held at the West McHenry state bank building last night. Most of the old band men in the village have expressed their willingness to become members of such an organization, while a number of new beginners have also expressed their desire to join. Prof. Sears has said it would be an easy matter to put together a band of twenty-<lve pieces. 60,000 Pounds-- We have 'been reliably informed that the Bowman plant at Ringwood will take care of 60,000 pounds of milk daily at their plant during the next six months. At least this is the amount contracted for during that period. Sept. 16, when Miss Mathjlda Miller,, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fredricksen-J usten-- A very beautiful wedding ceremony performed at the Sacred Heart chapel in Quantico, Va., on Friday, Sept. 7, united in marriage two local young people. Miss Elaine, Fredricksen and Lt Richard F. justen. The charming bride JLs the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivar Fredricksen of Wonder Lake and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick P. Justen. Navy Nurse On Leave-- Lt. Elsie Regner, looking as trim as ever, stopped in our office, on Tuesday, afternoon, on her way to Okinawa. She is at present spending a 10-day leave enroUte to Portland, Ore., from where she Will leave by either ship or plane for the Pacific. During the past week, our community became the. proifd owners of street signs. With * th6 new signs and house numbers,: oxir door to door mail service should soon be provided. Ice cream, cake, baloons and games were the features of the. party when on Wednesday Joyce LaPar was guest of honor at a party to celebrate her fourth birthday. Her sister, Jean, and brother, "Bobby, Sharon Leigh, Barbara and Lorie Baker and Mary Barbara Uttich were the guests who helped with the, celebration. There wasn't even a Friday the thirteenth last week but we sure had our share of accidents here in Lakeland. Curt Link fell off a fence and suffered a concussion, Eddie Manginen fell off his bike and had to have several stitches in his head, and one of our newcomers, Mrs. McHenry, slammed a car door on her fingers, breaking one and badly bruising the other. We are happy to report that all seem to be on the road to recovery now. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kloman of Chicago spent the weekend visiting their daughter and sonin- law, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Uttich. On Sunday, Mrs. H. Casey, Roy Casey and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Walters spent the day with the Uttichs. Mrs. H. Hooker entertained her brother, W. T. Stephens, form Painesville, Ohio. Little Mary Pintozzi, 2-yearold daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Pintozzi, wgs flower girl at the wedding of her aunt, Marcella Etten, and Wayne Dixon Saturday, Sept. 17. Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Laurence will celebrate their fifteenth wedding anniversary Sept. 21. How about a steak dinner, Bernie? Weekend guests of the Laurences were Mary's aunt from Milwaukee and her mother arid dad, Mr. and Mrs. Nimeth, from Chicago. « Mr. and Mrs. Tom Gleeson, Brian and Mike spent Sunday in Milwaukee, visiting Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Woods: Tom and Stanley took in the Milwaukee Braves and ,St. Louis ball game. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ahrens visited their son and daughterin- law, Mr. and Mrs. John Ahrens, this past weekend. A picnic lunch waff served in the back yard of tne Bob Kroenings' for seven families of the Chi-Amiga club from Chicago. After the picnic, the men and boys entertained themselves by playing football while the women caught up on all the gossip and news since their last gathering. Mr. and Mrs. Anton E. Noel, Jr., and son, Donald Edward, and daughter, Jacqueline Anne, iuid Mr. and Mrs. ^illiam H. Bradley and daughter, Lynne Irene, spent Sunday celebrating the sixty-seventh birthday of the far ther of Mrs. Bradley and the junior Mr. Noel at their summer* residence at Dunnes Lake. . \ Buddy Schlapinski spent the week with Mr. and Mr{(. Earl Porter. WEST SHORE BEACH NEWS By Mary Day Association News The association has only a, 50' per cent paid up meihbership. We realise that most families have just been too busy all summer to get around to bringing in their annual dues. Snow plowing time is not far away and, this, service is necessary to all of us. Scout News The Cub Scouts -are having a pow-wow at the V.F.W. park on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 8 a.m. The; public is invited and we promise you will enjoy seeing all the colorful Indian costumes. Cub Scout den meetings are held on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. at the home of Lois Bieszczad. Maynard Meyers is the new Scoutmaster' of Troop 164. All the West Shore Beach boys from age .11 and up should contact Mr. Meyers by calling 546-R-l. We feel tjtiat Scouting is a necessary part of a boy's life and this col* umn will carry the news of these troops. General News We are fortunate in having excellent garbage pick-up service every week. We know everyone will want to take advantage of this service. Our star bowler, Roy Homo, has been invited to bowl with the city league this season. We will watch the bowling column. Lots of luck, Roy. Kitty Baur entertained Miss Ceil Engerski of Chicago last week. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Knaack attended the wedding of her brother, Robert Krickl, of Woodstock and Joyce Krumwiede of Ringwood on Saturday, Sept. 17. The wedding took place at the Lutheran church in Woodstock and the reception was feeld at the johnsburg Recreation. Miss Helen Malley, while spending the weekend with Tom and Winnie Malley, was a guest member of the pinochle club last Friday. . - Lorraine Johnson, Lyall Anderson, Lois Bieszczad, Gerry Johnson and * their kiddies spent one day last week visiting Edith Martin in» Kenosha. They had lunch on the Martins' private beach. We all miss Tom and Edith vfery much but^-we are happy to kno^f \they. love their new home. ( Mr. and Mrs. carles Wyles have just returned from a trip to South Dakota. Mr. and Mr®. Jack To.maselli and Mr. and Mrs. ^Michael Cartuccio were1, weekendguests at the home of Kitty and Joe Baur. Mrs. Jack Tomaselli is the godchild of the Baurs and we all rememiber her when she was little Jeanie. Mrs. Dorothy Johnson, mother of Gene and Chester Johnson, visited their homes' over the weekend.
