Amst'utz, Waukegan; State Senator Robert McClory, Lake C. Itams of Local Interest-- Mr. and Mrs. J. Hill, who have made their home here during the past few months, have departed for parts unknown. Autumn-Red Fruit Cake 2 cups sifted cake flour 3 teaspoons baking powder Vfr teaspoon baking soda Vi teaspoon powdered cloves H teaspoon cinnamon V4 teaspoon nutmeg % cup shortening 1 cup sugar v 2 eggs well-beaten 2 cups (1 pound0 chopped candied fruits and peels 1 can (114 cups) condensed totnafo soup 1 cup chopped walnuts (>4 pound) Sift together, the flour, baking powder soda and spices. Cream shortening and sugar; add eg£S. Stir in candied fruits and peels. Add flour mixture alternately with soup; stir in chopped nuts. Pour batter into two greased small loaf pans (8x5x2% inches) or into a greased tube pan. Bake in a moderate oven (325° F.) about 1% hour* or until done. TEN YEARS AGO From Issue of Oct. 18, HM5 Mrs. Walter Han?aon-- Mrs. Walter Harrison, 58, passed away early this morning at the Woodstock hospital as a result of extensive third degree burns suffered in a gasoline explosion as she was attempting to kindle a fire in "a kitchen stove in her home southwest of Ringwood.
