According to the 1955 edition of the National Safety Council's statistical yearbook, "Accident Facts," there were 14,000 workers killed on the job in 1954. In 1933, with a much smaller work force, the number was 14,500. The Council noted that 1954 Was the eighth consecutive year in which the accident frequency rate of its industrial members has been reduced. The budget committee portioned ten dollars from Hobo Day to be used for civic use, and to fulfill the eight purposes of the F.H.A. GAA. The G.A.A. has just finished hockey season and has started volleyball. There are ten teams, two from each class and four from the freshman class. Thanhs to Miss Dorothy Drakeford, our new gym teacher, the G.A.A. has been able to start a bowling league, which will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school at the new McHenry alleys. There are approximately »100 girls that signed up, seventy of whom are beginners.
