Proceeds from the dinner will go toward the purchase of a police patrol car which is so vitally needed here. The benefit party which was held at the V.F.W. last Saturday night was a success in spite of the inclement weather and the many activities also scheduled for that night. The Ladies of the Lake are grateful to the faithful crowd that showed up. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes And oil fumes are worse. But in spite of the temperamental heater, about twenty-five people showed up for the Cullom-Knoll meeting last Sunday. Amid good natured kidding, Ed Hammerstein reported the installation of the new bulletin board in the beachhouse and that a disappearing staircase will be installed iii the near future. George McOuat's resignation as secretary tifthe club was accepted and Elma Nelson was introduced as his successor. In addition to the girls who were mentioned l^st week, the Ladles of the 'Lake Met last Thursday and the main order of business was the plans for the benefit party and dinner. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Jerry Doran, Betty Houck and Ethel Schmidt. There will be another meeting tonight at 8 p.m. at the beachhouse. Election Saturday The high school bond issue will bfe voted upon this Saturday, Dec. 10, at the beachhouse. Our community has been designated as precinct three. Mrs. E. L. Liston was preparr ing food, on her kitcheft range yWhen a pan of grease caught fire. The flames rose up ahd engulfed the curtains. Mrs. Liston screamed and was heard by Mr. Koch, a next door neighbor, who jumped the fence and rushed to help her. In record time, he put out the conflagration and then revived Mrs. Liston, who had fainted from the shock. Because of his quick action, it wasn't necessary to call the fire department.
