Thursday,. December 22, 195 5 WITH LAST HALF RALLY VS. MCHS First Half Lead Fades As Warriors Lose Game 52 To 46 Coach Tony Roskie's Blue ^.Streaks of Woodstock paid our MCHS Warriors a visit- Friday night, but brought no Christmas cheer to, .McHenry basketball fans. With a strong last half, the Woodstock - team beat the Warriors 52 to 46. McHenry led by two points" at the quarter mark, then stretched their lead to 26-19 at half time. With some of the starters gathering * fouls. Coach Fulton was forced to make some switches in the last half only to %'find the Streaks closing in. Every man was giving his best, but the combination failed to stop the momentum picked up by the -Visitors. ^he same ' speedster who gave McHenry Ms on. the football field ;la§t fall with his blazing speed was the boy who wrecked the Warriors. His name is Musser and his number was 20 in case you want to remember.-Musser was the outside man on offense °and the strategy seemed to be to allow him to shoot from a distance. He scored only 5 points in the first half, then poured in 14 in the last half. Woodstock led by one point as the foiiith quarter got under way. Right here is where John Huff was a real take charge guy. John dropped in two baskets and two free throws before Woodstock could get a point. The ' Warriors failed to control the ball and Musser dropped in a .1 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Pig* FlrJ lojig shot. ^ Gray got in close for_ a shot and, the die was cast. The game was exciting all the iy and the noise was terrific. Ai times tempers flared. Alt times the officials differed anp hid to compare notes. Rivalry ls keen ^pn the floor and in, thtt stmds. But, when John Huft w;nt out on fouls late in the g£me the entire,, crowd \yas in urison in giving him the hand he deserve*}. Not only the rival pl.iyers, but also their coach went to the McHenry bench to give the little man wrch the big heart a t on the back. - ood^tock (52) ork .mg ay |?rwin .isser iderson •rlson Totals u B F 2 * 4 1 d McHenry (46) Pierce Hogan Scjhmitt cMahon ? right (iff ck . , Huemann Totals Scjofe by qaarters: Woodstock 8 11 18 15--52 McHenry 10 16 10 10--46 1 0 5 3 4 19 14 15 B F P 2 0 2 2 0 2 2 0 VARSITY WARRIORS BEAT HARVARD ffif.'i- OVERTIME 57 TO 55 !
