A banquet and entertainment honoring the occasion will be held this Thursday evening at St. Mary's hall. The court wap organized by Mrs. John H. Miller and Mrs. Catherine Schneider on Jan. 4, 1906, with Mrs. Rogers as high chief ranger. It \£as composed of eighteen members with Mrs. Josephine Heimer as the first chief ranger. The court at the present time has a membrship of about 180, with Mrs. Kathryn Worts as chief ranger. FORTY YEARS AGO From Issue of January 12, 1916 Stilling IHotel gold-- The Ben Stilling hotel property, at Pistakee Bay was sold recently to the ^lurray Bros. & Ward Land company of Minneapolis, Minn. The deal was closed under contract some little time ago. but not until today did the famous hotel property pass from the ownership of Ben Stilling to the above yarned company. The deal . in all reality was -made in a j trade, Mr. Stilling getting . 960 i acres of improved farm land, with three sets of buildings ' thereon. The land is located near New Rockford. No. £>ak„ a city with a population of about 2.5Q0 inhabitants. The Stilling property at Pistakee Bay, which includes the famous hotel bearing his name, brought $30,000. Rains Cut Ice In River-- The rains of the past few^days have again, cut the ice >in the river. This is the first time in many years that the river has opened up during mid-winter when once solidly frozen over. Storm Stops Ice Cutting-- The rain and sleet storm of Tuesday night and Wednesday morning put a crimp into the ice making business here and as a result the army of workers, as well as the employers, are any-, thing but happy. Eight Years Old-- Lorraine Schaefer, daughter of Mr. ami Mrs. Peter J. Schaefer, celebrated her eighth birthday anniversary, Monday when she entertained twelve of her schoolmates and friends at her home on Waukegan street after school. Abbott farm, now occupied by Mr. Cornwall. Matthew Schmarge moved last Week from F. B. Thompson's farm, where he had been since March 1, 1915, to a farm in the western part of Greenwood township.
