In the past all motorists approaching from the front or rear of a stopped school bus taking on or discharging children were ordered by-^aw to bring their vehicles to a stop. This included vehicles approaching from the opposite direction even when driving upon a divided highway. This section of the law has been changed to allow drivers approaching a School bus T^ npon a divided highway to continue on without bringing their vehicles to a stop. This has been changed to read as one operated "for the transportation of pupils in connection with any school activity." Whereas in the past school buseswere given special protection only when taking pupils to and from schools, they now are granted added protection when transporting pupils on such extra-curricular activities as out-of-town athletic events, band contests, and visits to museums -. and historical points of interest. A tf motorist must now recognize a vehicle as a school bus at any time during the day or night, week days as well as week ends and holidays and during all months of the year. Girl Scouts The last sale of candy the Girl Scouts had > was very successful, but there was not enough candy to go around. Mrs. James Buchwalter spent Thursday, Jan. 19, at a P.T.A. council meeting in C&ry. A bake sale will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, along with the Founders' Day program to be held at the fire department community house. Donations of cakes and customers will be greatly appreciated.
