Rockets Still Lead Conference Last Friday night the Richmond Rockets topped' the Genoa City Mustangs to the tune of 68-58 in the Genoa City high school gym. By jolting second place Genoa, the Rockets just about assured themselves a share of the Southern Regional conference crown. Tomorrow night the Rockets will be at home against Darien, a team that has yet to win a game this season, but Tuesday night the Rockets' will be all out to cinch first place when the big boys from Clinton come to town. The Clinton team will be all out to knock off the Rockets so they can get a share of the crown. Clinton is in second place with two losses and the Rockets' only loss was to Clinton very early in the season. With the score 55-58 in favor of the Mustangs from Genoa City and exactly four minutes left to gp, Bob Christensen hit for two long one-handed shots to put the Rockets ahead for the first time since the first quarter, but it was enough and the Rockets got control of the ball and they put on a two-minute stall that finally brought Genoa out and Genoa had to foul to get control of the ball. That is how the last four minutes w,6nt, but up , until then it looked like the G^hoa team would tie Richm&na for the conference lead'. The game started slow, but after the first quarter both teams began to hit *at a pretty good pace and it was a very good hall game all the way. At times the Rockets seemed to be cold, but it wasn't the fact that they , were so cold on" their shots, it was a very strong defens# the Mustangs set up against the Rockets. Every shot had to be hurried, and the Rockets never cracked that defense until the last quarter when a reserve guard by the "name of Arseneau really opened up with a barrage of shots from way out by hitting four in a row. These shots and his' steady defensive play on Mortenson, the Mustang's ace scorer, put new life in the Richmond team and from then on it was a different ball game. Richmond (68) B F F L.
