Miscellaneous Shower For Mrs. Leo Hiller Mrs. Leo Hiller was pleasantly surprised at a miscellaneous shower held at the home of Mrs. Georgia Bauer on Tuesday afternoon, in advance of the twentyfifth wedding anniversary celebration of the Hillers. Honoring the "bride" at the shower were the following guests: Mrs. Elizabeth Schmitt, Susie Hiller, LuAnn Smith, Estelle Klapperich, Alma Freund, Frances Schmitt, Dorothy Bauer, Eva Schaefer, Norma Knox and Grace Hiller. Following a delicious lunch, the guests left, wishing Mrs. Hiller many more anniversary observances. Many Attend Guest Day Guest Day at the Community Methodist church W.S.C.S. meeting in March found 125 members arid guests from fifteen neighboring ^ churches sitting down at luncheon together. Two instrumental groups and four soloists from the local high school entertained the group, j The students were some of those J who entered in the district music I competition at Woodstock. Mrs. Paul Turk, speaker of the j day, reminded those present, in an interesting talk, that "we can grow younger and open new doors to learning after physical work is over." Mrs. Turk recommended that we try to imprpve our taste in, and appreciation of, reading, music (including hymns) art (sometimes neglected in Sunday School work), humor and prayer. She recommended the book "Prayer -- the Mightiest Source" by Frank Laubach; who, incidentally, as an honored guest in her home for dinner marched out to the kitchen afterward and insisted on washing dishes. Another book Mrs. Turk named as splendid is "The Way" by E. Stanley Jones. Any one of these studies, Mrs. Turk suggested, can open "Doorways to Abundance" which was the title of her talk. According to house-wiring experts, too few people will face the fact that a two-socket electrical outlet is intended to accommodate just two plugs. The householder who burdens such an outlet with on "octopus" arrangement of multiple plugs runs a risk: That motoroperated qppliances (washing machine, vacuum cleaner, refrigerator, deep-freeze, and so on) v^l burn out more quickly than they should.
