Jim Justen and Matt Eichinger won their matches and Bob Cable lost his on the last hole. For the nine holes, Eichinger, Cable and Larry Corey had 48, Justen, 50, and Art Beck, 55. Two days later, McHenry journeyed to Grayslake and the results were graced with conquest, McHenry 14 Mt, Grayslake Vi. All members of the team won their matches. Scores for the nine holes were M. Eichinger, 42, Larry Corey, 44, Art Beck, 45, Bob Cable, 46, and Jim Justen, 47. Coach Cuda wrote a note commending his golfers on their improvements since the weather has turned warm and stated his team is1 largely made up of freshttien and sophomores. Last Tuesday, the women members of McHenry Country club held their spring luncheon. President of the Ladies' Golf association at the club is Julia Kralowetz; vice-president, Betty Moss; secretary, Mary Buckie; treasurer, Bernice Jensen. The girls from Skokie did a wonderful job on the prizes and should receive praise, Julius _ Goffo, the home professional, defined the rules and etiquette of golf. May 1 is opening golf day and the event for the day • will be blind bogey. Julie Goffo will give a group lesson. -- Sunday's low net event for the men was won by Norm Knaack with 70-4-66, while Matt Hoffman was second with 92-19-71. The Peoria event in class 1-7 went to Norm Knaack and second was C. Schmidt; Class 8-15 went to John Busscher and B. Beilman. Class 16 and up went to Pete Meyers and Matt Hoffman. The events for Sunday is the start of the two-man best ball tournament over 36 holes with the first 18 holes Sunday.' At Pistakee golf course, Bill Melpede will have John Lindstrom back as golf instructor. The ladiep of the course will have a" luncheon May 16 to make plans for their golfing days. Mrs. Ruth Barlow is president. At Chapel Hill, Stan and Ethel Corey are counting the days to when their clubhouse will' be completed. They added 72 feet on the old clubhouse with ladies' and men's, showers and lockers downstairs. Work will start next week on the addition of nine holes, so next year, Chapel Hill will be 18 holes. Frett celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on April 20, when a solemn high mass, at St. Patrick's church, was followed by a breakfast at the Justen hotel. Mrs. Ellen Bolger, 74, mother of State Representative Thomas A. Bolger and sister of Mayor John R. Knox, died at her home Tuesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nye have returned from their honeymoon and are now occupying the Dr. N. J. Nye cottage. John Francis Knox, 45, son of Mrs. Stacia Malone, died at St. Joseph's hospital, Elgirt, last Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stenger (Borteel Spencer) of Waukegan are parents of a son, born April 19. INJURED IN FALLS Mrs. George Bohr sustained a broken arm in a fall this past week. Mrs. Edward Buchert suffered a broken knee cap, also in a fall. The deceased was born at Richmond May 3, 1872, and moved to Crystal Lake when he was five years old. He was employed by the Chicago & North Western railroad for thirty-two years before opening the jewelry stores. Three daughters, one sister, two grandchildren and one greatgrandchild survive. © The body rested at the Warner funeral home in Crystal Lake until Wednesday at 2 o'clock, when Rev. FAVOR NEW TAX PERMIT The Illinois Association of County Officials, meeting in Springfield this past week, adopted a resolution favoring legislation to permit counties to levy a half cent sales tax in unincorporated areas. The plan, to be presented to the 1957 Legislature, according t6 the resolution, would aid financially pressed counties and place county merchants on the same level with those in cities which now levy a half cent tax.
