The McHenry Sox defeated the Elgin Nationals, 5 to 3, last Sunday, after about two hours of strenuous pastime.' , Ed Sutton of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of McHenry, has disposed of his farm at Harrisburg, S.D., consideration making him a profit of $90 per acre. Mr, and Mrs., William Blakp welcomed an 11-pound daughter at their home on the Gertrude Miller farm last week. John P. Weber and his workmen have started work on a new garage on the property recently purchased by Charles Unti on Green street, ;where a new home will be built later. 3,973 County Residents Get Insurance Benefits Monthly payments of $27,614 to 646 widowed mothers and minor children accounted for 12 per cent of the total monthly old-age and survivors' insurance benefits to $223,037 in McHenry county as of December, 1955, according to Bernard Barnett, Social Security association district manager in Waukegan. In all, 3,973 people in McHenry county were getting $223,037 each month in old-age and survivors' insurance benefits at the end of 1955. This was an increase of 6 per cent over ^ the number of beneficiaries at ^ the end of 1954. Aged people accounted for the greatest number in the county's inci*eased beneficiary total, he said. In McHenry county at the end of last year, 2,277 retired workers were getting $153,319 monthly; 706 wives and dependent husbands were receiving $24,664 monthly; 344 aged widows, widowers and parents were receiving $17,440 monthly as survivors of deceased insured workers. The Waukegan Social Security office is at the Waukegan post office- and representatives of that office regularly visit Woodstock on the first four Wednesdays of eacri month, rrom 9:30 a.m. to about noon. Nye. was seriously hurt Wednesday evening when the truck he was driving was struck by a Soo Line pasenger train at Grayslake. The young man was bringing a load of jewerry to Grayslake, where he and his father opened a jewelry store last Saturday. Miss Grace Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Martin, ^graduated from St. Anthony of Padua school of nursing in Chicago last weerc. Miss Alice Knox, 60 years old, died at her home on Green strdet last Sunday morning. Mrs. Kunore Parsley Coghlan. 69 years old, died at her home near Burton's Bridge June'16. A. G. Bishop of Medford, Ore., who is visiting here, was guest of honor at a picnic at Barnard's Mill Sunday. Mrs. Henry•-Geary, mother; of Mrs. H; J. Schaffcr and Mrs. John R. Knox of Mci-Ienry, died at her farni home between McHenry and Wauconda Sunday. They were Virginia Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Williams, Nadine Schaefer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schaefer, Claire Freund, daughter of Mr. aiid Mrs. Walter Freund, and Betty Wagner, daughter of the John J. Wagners of Volo. St. Patrick's ninety-three-yearold church, which had served the people of this community for so many years, was torn down last week. Curtis Newman received his BS degree in accounting at the seventy-fifth annual commencement of the University of Illinois on June 16. ' Police Chief Earl" Dowell arrested Mrs. Marie Murphy of Chicago at the Riverside hotel last Sunday. Mrs. Murphy had stolen $25,000 in negotiable securities from the safe deposit box of an . 84-year-old retired policeman. Miss Lucille Weingart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Weingart, and William Salzman, son of the • William Salzmans , of Woodstock, were married at St. Mary's church June 13. Several relatives fronr here attended the wedding of Earl Smith, son of the Art Smiths, and Mary Jean Allan of East Moline, 111., which took place in the rectory of St. John the Baptist church in Rapid City, 111., last Sunday.
