John Ahrens was appointed ways and means coordinator, ^lis duties will be to coordinate all activity begun by various committees in the organization. Nearby organizations which plan events that require cooperation of residents of Lakeland Park jgfiould check with John to avoid any conflict in time or activity. Floyd Leigh was appointed chairman of the park committee. Any suggestions for the park area should be made to him. Sportsman Club Netvs The membership quota is rapidly being filled fq^ controlled shooting. The clearing of the two creeks to increase the flow of water into the lake is progressing and will continue on Saturday, Sept. 1. Let's have a big turn-' out. Lifeguard Training Course The weather conditions were not favorable for our seven life guards to take their Red Cross tests this past week. They were given a land drill and it was decided that all of them would complete their training by takand throwing balloons filled with water contest and they topped the day with trying their prowess in the sack races. Diane's birthday isn't until Sept. 6 but she's already had two parties. Guests at the Sunday party included Mr. and Mrs. John Landis, Johnny and Kathy, of Lombard, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Krater. Phillip and Steven from Mundelien and niece, Lynn of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Krater from Villa Park. On Saturday, the 25, Diane's maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Walker of Chicago and her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Dupon and daughter Jacqueline of Chicago came to wish Diane a happy birthday and also to celebrate Mr. Walker's 70th birthday. Coming and Going Mr. and Mrs. Horace Taylor returned Sunday from a wonderful vacation in Canada. The trip was a mixture of a little business, but mostly pleasure and .took them to Montreal, London, Kitchener, Toronto and Ottawa. The Taylors spent two weeks there and on returning homewere surprised with a visitor^ Nancy Oyen, a niece from La Cross, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. John Svitanek were very busy this past week getting a crib ready for their little Ntew City, New York guest.
