The hostess and Mary Jane Sellinger were high scorers. The other lacjies who played canasta were: Helen Cope, Neva Fuhrer, M a r c e 11 a Meeker, Catherine jyurm and Ruth Woodward. Six Hollars were collected for the hospital auxiliary. Enjoy Trip to Mackinac Island Mr. and Mrs. Jack Young and daughter, Pame la, enjoyed "a trip to Mackinac Island last week. They crossed Lake Michigan by boat and drove on to Mackinac City. There they ferried across the strait to thf Jttsland. On that -trip they sawihe mile and a half bridge that is in construction across the Mackinac, Straits. Aft.er. a day sight-seeing on the Island they returned to Wis., via boat and visited at the Dells before returning to their home in Wooded Shores. 7,000 Mile Trip To West Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Redman of ^fieep Spring Woods have returned from a month long trip to the west. Their 7,000 mile trip started July 21 took them West through the Northern part of the United States. In the Black Hills of South Dakota they went on a buffalo hunt in the Slate Park. There are 1,000 bulfalos in the park and they run in herds of various sizes. •The Redmans were fortunate to »ee the largest, from 80 to 90, and took pictures of them. They 1 raveled on to Yellowstone Park where Ihqy caught their \limit of cut throat trout. In Canada they saw Glacier National Park, Banff National Park, Lake Louise and Emerald Lake. In Banff they were lifted by ski lift to 9,000 feet. They drove back to Seattle and on' to take M boat trip from Anacortes, Wash., through the San Juan Islands to Victoria, British Columbia and from there back to Port Angeles, Wash. Down the coast they drove to Portland, Or?., to attend the national convention of the Pi Beta Alpha Ifraternity of the Professional BookVnen of America. Their h o m e w a r d d r i v e t o o k t h e m through Salt Lake City and Colo. ^Tie Redmans brought back about 500 pictures taken in three-dimension. Home Nursing • Course Offered Among ..the scores of activities engaged in by the American Red Cross, there is one called Red Cross home nursing instruction. This year it is proposed to start a class for women on the east vjiide of Wonder Lake. Mrs. rtetty Booth, official instructor, will conduct such a class if enough are interested. Last year a class of eighteen women of the west side of Wonder Lake received viyuable instruction in how to give first aid to victims of accidents and minor ailments until a physician arrives. Thes£ home nursing classes will be held twice a week for three greeks beginning early in Oct. Medical men throughout tthe c o u n t y h a v e e n d o r s e d t h e s e classes. Time and place of meeting of these classes will be announced later. They may be held at a school, at a church or at a home.
