Had either the house committee or the executive board been notified that the Lakemoor fire-corn? munity building was to be used on this date, the above groups would have been alerted. When the assignment of dates %use the Lakemoor if ire-community building are not through . the proper channels or by the proper committee, this type of inconvenience to regularly assigned groups cannot be avoided. Please address your requests to John Bonder, secretary house committee, or Frank O'Leary, executive board. Thursday at 8:30 p.m.-Everyone is welcome to attend. Hallowe'en Dance Two weeks left to plan a costume for the third annual fireman's masquerade dance. The dance will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27. Auxiliary The next auxiliary meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Hie members are ,asK£d to come in costumes and an entertaining social is to follow. j- L I A iThe Sept.. 29 fall dance given by me L. I. A. was a very fine success and everyone there had a wonderfull time. At this time the officers were installed by Claude F. Mc- Dermott. The officers are Richard Hyatt, president; Ann Brzezinski, secretary-treasurer; Joe Yaeger, Othele Brady and Marcella Foss, trustees; Jen McDemiott and Harry. Brady, house committee. We wish the officers a very suc- <£sful year. Youth Fellowship On Saturday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. the Inland Youth Fellowship will present • a film entitled "Seventeen", at the Lily Lake schoolhouse. Everyone is invited to attend, and the young people should find the film very interesting. * Fun Club Irene Godina entertained the Fun club members at her home last Wednesday. A late luncheon was served and winners of lovely prizes were Alice Becker, Jean Booster and Jen O'Leary. H P C Jessie and Olive Corbett entertained the members of the H. P. C. Ust Friday evening with a card game. High score winners were Jessie Corbett, Irene Leon and Alice Wade. Cake and coffee was served. Brownies The Brownies Hallowe'en party is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 30. The quota for Brownies is filled up for the present and anyone wishing to join, please call Mrs. Lu Bitterman at 523-W-l and have your name put on the waiting list. Intermediate Girl Scouts We opened our meeting by singing "Girl Scouts Together". Betty Becker called the roll and collected dues. Mrs. Booster held inspection. We started working on our second class rank. Carol Booster was hostess and served cookies. We decided to invite one girl friend to our Hallowe'en party later this month. The committees for the party met and made plans. We danced the "Heel-Toe Polka" and closed with our run-along-home circle. Two new -girls were welcomed to the group, Kathy Vetters and Ruth Schmitt. There are still openings for girls aged 10 to 14 years to join. The girls are asked to be on time at each meeting and remember their dues; also to bring a note if they are to be excused early Mrs. Schmit has joined us and will work with the girls. Carol Gray, Scribe IT, S. Marines ^ Ronald Schmidt finished off his sixteen-day leave with a party last Saturday with relatives and friends. He returned last week to San Diego. Pvt. Fran Golbeck is home on a fifteen-day leave from Camp Pendleton, where he has just completed combat training. He will return to Camp Mathews in San Diego as a rifle coac.h. Also proud to report Fran was awarded a certificate for being an outstanding marksman of his platoon. Entering Air Force Dick Beahler is not entering the U.S. Army as reported a week ago. Dick left last Monday to serve in the U.S. Air Force for four years and will be stationed at San Antonio, Texas. Birthdays ' A1 Godina and his brother-inlaw, William Higgins of Franklin Park, celebrated their birthdays on the same day Sunday. Oct. 7. The two families enjoyed a birthday dinner at the Godina home. Also Ronal Godina was 20 years old on Sunday, Oct. 14. John Hansen celebrated his birthday on Friday, Oct. 12,5and enjoyed a birthday family dinner. A very happy birthday to all and many more of them. .Weddings ~- Two weddings were held on our village last Saturday, Oct. 13. Congratulations to Mr. and.Mrs. Clifford Todd on the marriage of their daughter, Eleanor v Marie. Eleanore became the bride of John Patrick Cahill. They were married at Our Lady of Lourdes chuirch, followed by a reception in Chicago. And congratulations to Mrs. Nona Vertucci and Frank Messheimer on their marriage, l&si Saturday, Oct. 13. ••••'• Walter Szarek was th^ test^mpn and Mrs. Sack, matron of ho^br. Birth Announcements On Sept. 31, a bundle of joy and happiness arrived by stork express to Mr. anid Mrs. Kenneth Nemes, our fairly new residents. Mark Mathews tipped the scale at 6 pounds and 7 ounces. On hand to welcome Mark home were his sis^ ter, Theresa, and brother. Ken, Jr. Cub Scouts Den 7 Cubs meet every Thursday at 4 p.m. at Mrs. Margaret Hatch's home. At the present tii.te there are do openings in the fisouts. Thiirsday Socials The Thursday night socials are being held at Wally's Oasis every Girl Scouts Thursday, Sept. 27, the Girl Scout meeting came to order. The girls joined their patrols and discussed badge work. They will be working on the cat and dog badges. Each girl will bring items from books and magazines on the life 'ways and care of cats and dogs. A night hike is in the Entered Hospital Wade Clemens, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Wade, entered the hospital last Thursday for a tonsillectomy. Anniversary Party Casey and Ann Brzezinski celebrated tfceir fifteenth anniversary last Thursday, Oct. 11, with a wonderful party on Saturday. At the party, Walter and Helen Para were celebrating their sixteenth anniversary. Having fun at the party into the wee hours were Rita and Roy Erickson, Marty and Dorothy Wrublewski, Harold and Marcella Foss, Tony and Irene Leon, Ann Bolda, Stewart Clark, Ed Kamin, Jr., Ed and Margie Kamin, Sr., Otto and Ti Geiger of Duck Lake and it was good to see .Cleveland and Alice Wade able to attend the party. The BrzezinskiS received a very fine mixmaster as a gift from their friends. News Briefs Mr. and Mrs. John Wrublewski have been visiting their son, Marty, and family for two weeks.
