Vehicle licenses and dog tags will be on sale Dec. 1. They may be purchased in the McDermott building. Several of the village officials are planning to attend the fortythird annual Illinois Municipal League convention this weekend in Springfield. pine Reception Last Saturday afternoon the Republican *party caravan was very pleased at the fine reception they received. There were many cars in. the caravan and refreshments were served in the McDermott building, the- Republican headquarters. Ladies Auxiliary Be sure and mark Nov. 18 on your calendar or date book. That is the Sunday the auxiliary will be happy to serve your families a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Also at the bazaar there wijl "be many attractive gifts and items on sale to help you with your Christmas shopping. A leaflet will be passed out Pthis weekend, telling you all about it. Two Accidents Pete Hamil was in an automobile accident last Saturday and is now in St. Therese hospital in Waukegan. Bernie Peschke was treated for injuries at McHenry hospital last Saturday from an automobile accident. We wish you both a very speedy recovery. P. T. A. James Buchwalter, the' vicepresident, was in charge of the last Lily Lake P.T.A. meeting. A committee was formed at the last meeting to plan a Christmas party for the children of the ffichool. Mrs. Buchwalter, the president, is still on the sick list due to a. stroke and it will be several weeks yet before she will be able to get around. Bowling News ' » There were many, humoroys and cute costumes last Monday at the McHenry bowling alley. The women all had a good time and a prize was awarded to the McDonald team. Hiey were dressed as' jail birds. Graduated Robert J. Bitterman, with the U. S. Marines, graduated from boot training and is being transferred for further training to Camp Pendleton, San Diego, Calif. He has high hopes for a furlough at Christmas time. Cub Scouts Michael Hatch, Tom Para, Butch Sossong, Charles Zabroski and, Mike. Zabroski of Den 7 .last Saturday .went from door to door giving out liberty bells with a "Get Out and Vote" slogan. They were accompanied by Ted Beahler, Stan Zabroski, James Hansen and Herbie Zabroski. Engaged Congratulations to Claude L. McDermott, Jr., and Nancy Ann Crimmins of Crystal Lake on their engagement. Girl Scouts The Girl Scouts of Troop 1 had a swell time Wednesday night when they went "trick or t r e a t i n g " a r o u n d t h e t o w n . Thanks to everyone who didn't turn away seventeen girls in a group. Mrs. Pope, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Naughton were along with the girls. They report a well behaved group of scouts. Ken Pope, Jr., enjoyed Wednesday evening hahding out bags of treats to some eighty odd "Goblins", also playing host to the Girl Scouts by serving hot chocolate after their trip around the town. Thursday night at our regular meeting we had our Hallowe'en party, there were twenty-five present. Prizes weip given to Nancy Chadwick, most original; Mary Ann Sossong, the prettiest; Judy Pope, the ugliest; Gary Frankie, Jackie Noel and Judy Barlow for secret identity. We were sorry that Rosanne Brzezinski could not join us during these two nights due to her accident while horseback riding. Hope; you are better soon and back with us at our next meeting. Intermediate Girt Scouts A short meeting was held last Monday by the Girl Scouts, followed by a Hallowe'en party later. The girls enjoyed games and music. Refreshments were served by the Girl Scouts to their guests. The leaders and all the girls were in costumes. The Girl Scouts will begin their badge work and Christmas gift cards at the next meeting. There will be some gift cards ready for sale at the auxiliary bazaar on Sunday,, Nov. 18. • Brownies The Brownies enjoyed last Tuesday with a short meeting and a Hallowe'en party with ice cream, cookies, candy, balloons and games. There were many very nice costumes worn by the girls. The leaders Wish to thank all the mothers for their donations of refreshments., Thursday Socials The Thursday night socials are being held at Wally's Oasis every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. , Anniversary and Birthday Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harder on their fiftysixth wedding anniversary. And a happy birthday to Mrs. Harder. They celebrated both occasions with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harder and family from Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tetrow and family from Lombard last Sunday. Birthday Party John and Viola Arbogast celebrated their birthdays together last Sunday. Guests at the party were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wright from Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bolda and children, Mrs. Louise Unruh, Mr. Herman Lahre, Ethel Edwards, Connie, Mary and Ray?- mond Smith. Early Thanksgiving Dinner" An early Thanksgiving dinner was held at the Frank O'Leary home last Sunday for their son, Dale, home on a two-week furlough. The O'Learys and Holbels from Chicago, Niles and Franklin Park were out in full force for the turkey and trimmings. Dale is with the U. S. Marines. Three Comer Set Helen Para and Ann" Brzezinski last Tuesday visited with Mr. and Mrs. Michael Paris in Chicago, their new niece, Reriee Para, four weeks old, and other daughter, Yvonne. Baby Joseph Tuttle of Decatur is a new nephew added to the Roy Erickson family. Hallowe'en News Adele Leon won first prize at a Hallowe'en party in Pistakee Bay, dressed as a lovely Japanese girl. And a Hallowe'en party was held at the Kosup home last Saturday. Attending the party were Cynthia Rourke, Dick Hester, Norman Williams, John Hansen, Mary Ann Swenski, Elaine Foute and Liz Kosup. Hot dogs, salad, cookies, candy, punch and taffy apples were served. News Briefs Mr. and Mrs. Harold Foss enr tertained Marcella's father Stanley Sohm, Father O'Neill and Brother Raymond Sohm from Chicago last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Claude F|. McDermott enjoyed the company of Matthey Bulat of Auckland* New Zealand, last weekend. On Saturday they were at a birthday for a brother-in-law, Frank Lorentz, and on Sunday at a Communion party for a great, niece, Susan Wesley. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE Forty-four graduate nurses, the first group to complete training under an employment-education program set up in 1955 by the Illinois Department of Public Welfare, entered the department's mental health service system last week and were assigned to various hospitals. In making this announcement, Dr. Otto L. Bettag, department director, said 131 other nurses are taking training for similar work. Plans call for 200 students in the progifem, so as to provide a steady flow ot psychiatric nurses into state mental health services. FHA OPERATING^ LOAN SERVICE HAS BEEN EXPANDED New legislation has increased the number of farm families who are eligible to obtain operating loans from the Farmers Home administration, Robert C. Becker, the agency's county supervisor, said. The new law increases the maximum amount that can be advanced, and as a part of the r u r a l d e v e l o p m e n t p r o g r a m makes loans available when the farmer has part-time employment off the farm. Operating loans are made for the purchase of machinery, livestock, equipment, fertilizer, seed, tractor fuel and other farm and home operating expenses needed to carry ouf efficient farming operations on family-type farms. In some instances, a loan may be made for the re-financing of existing debts. Under this new law, loans will also be available to applicants who have part-time employment off the farm, provided they are established farmers conducting substantial farming operations and* spending the major portion of their time farming. Such operators must have dependable sources of outside income.
