McHenry Top In Milk Consumption McHenry Community high school, H&nvard and Greenwood school, District 10, were the top three schools in the county, in that order, in terms df milk consumption per student, it has been revealed this week. The county "had an average of 33.9 quarts of milk consumed annually per student last year under the school milk program, according to Richard L. Tazewell, county superintendent of schools: Thirteen of the county's schools were commended for topping the recommended goal of forty-five quarts of milk. The source of this praise was Roland W. Bartlett, University of Illinois dairy edonomifet, who is in charge of the state program. Mr. Tazewell says that figures just released by Bartlett show that students' in participating schools averaged 42.7 quarts annually, based on a survey last January. 1 County • schools participating in the program numbered forty, with 12,422 students served. Eight schools did not participate, and as result 3,209 students were not served milk under the program. Participating Schools can receive a maximum reinbursement oif from three td four cents on each half-pint of milk consumed --depending on whether or not they vhadaschool lunch, or a school milk,' program previously, R. L. Tazewell says. In most schools, children seldom pay over three cents for each half-pint and frequently pay much 4e8S-- particularly if >the school has a school lunch program.
