After McHenry's win over Harvard; it is generally agreed that the Fulton boys can win a lot of games if they can get their hands on the ball. a There is speed, on that Warrior team and some boys who have sharp eyes. The big heed is for a towering giant to control rebounds. HELP THE AGED The above picture shows Shirley Klapperich and Pat Wirtz fondly helping Jofcm Dreymiller down the Steps in front of "Muggs Drugs". Since John fell down the steps after a jolt of coffee "last week, the girls are watching him closely. Coach Fulton started Jim Justen, Tom McMahon, Matt Eicliinger, Jim Huemann and Denny Conway. When Harvard sent in a tall combination, Ed *Caron was sent In and proved real helpful in swinging the play back to the Warrior side. Every Warrior on the bench saw some action and a couple of those boys are sure to crowd the starters for position. -The Cuda boys lost by one point and their coach was not -happy. "Chuck" does a great job with the Frosh-Soph boys, but football injuries have taken two promising sophomores, Mark Vycital and Bob Hauser, out of the picture for a while. 24th, in the Johnsburg Memorial Hall. No need of telling you the good work accomplished by this organization. Let's go to their dance. It will help them continue to help all of us. When you need those fellows, they are on the job fast.-So -- dance with the dolly with the hole in her sock or dance with a fellow from the Rescue Squad. -Just-dance. If you overdo, the boys will revive you. Football Banquet-- You will find news elsewhere in this issue concerning the Kiwanis football banquet, but just want to stick in our two cents worth of plug for its success. Tim Lowry, of Ail-American fame, will be the speaker of the evening next Monday evening, November 26th. We are thankful for those days--and WE ARE THANKFUL: For another birthday with those we „ love and those we like (and we like everybody today). That last year's clothes still fit (may get a little stretch around the middle on Thursday). For rain. To those who helped on this sport page the past year. That we live in the good old U.S.A. That we live in4 McHenry. To have learned that you seldom dislike A fellow after you get to know him. For all of God's blessings. With former McHenry High School players and grads home for the holiday, we expect to see a large crowd at the game this (Wednesday) evening when the home teams clash with Grant. SOPH FIVE ED6ES HcHEHRY 42 TO 41 In a fast and furious finish, Harvard defeated McHenry's Frosh- Soph basketball team Friday night by a score of 42 to 41 at Harvard. Trailing at half time by four points, McHenry's young Warriors outscored the home team 14 to 7 in the third period to take the lead 32 to 29. In the final summary, Harvard's free throw percentage (10 out of Town Team- Since the American Legion voted to sponsor a town basketball team, a lot of young men have been mighty happy. If enthusiasm among fans can be built up to half the pitch shown by the players, you can expect a great comeback in town team play. There will be two teams in uniform for the -opening game next Sunday evening, November 25th. Richmond is coming to McHenry and the first game will start at 7:30 P.M. The boys are real pleased at securing the services of Jack Thomas to coach the teams. Jack has played a lot of basketball and shown ability in teaching others. His presence should assure the teams of good leadership. You have no idea how pleased those young fellows would be to see you at the game Sunday night We think their enthusiasm de serves support. SHOP AT HOME MCHS VARSITYWINS 55-39 OYER HARVARDCAGiRS Grant Township To • Play Here Tonight In First Home Game MCHS basketball got off to a good start last Friday night at Harvard as the varsity squad registered a 55 to 39 victory. This was a non-conference game and showed every evidence in the early stages of being the first game for both teams. Except for some accurate free throw shooting by Tpm McMahon, neither team could hit the hoop during the first six minutes of play. The \Varriors led 12 to 1 at the quarter and substitutions started on both teams as coaches wanted a good look at material under fire. Harvard had one combination with plenty of size, that clicked and they crept up to within five points at one stage in the third quarter. Huemann and Eichinger turned on a terrific burst of speed at this point to completely baffle the Harvard defense. Huemann's 20 points led the scoring while Eden's 18 points led Harvard. Eichinger's 10 points, plus a fine floor game both on offense and defense, stamped him as a mainstay this season. McHenry made 15 out of 24 free throw chances while Harvard had 11 out of 22. Rabbit hunters should be careful in handling and dressing of their kills to prevent tularemia infection. This disease affects many wild animals but nlbst frequently rabhits. Tularemia is transmitted to humans through a break in the skin or through the mucous membrane and is rarely, if ever, transmitted from one person to another. The onset of the disease is usually sudden, accompanied^ by chills, fever and prostration. 'An ulcer may appear *at the site of entrance of the organism, with swelling of lymph glands in nearby parts of the body. Do not shoot slow moving rabbits or pick up rabbits that are unexplainedly found dead. Wear rubber gloves while cleaning rabbits. ' Any carcass found to have white spots on the liver or spleen should be burned and any person handling such a carcass should wash his hands with sopp and water or disinfectant. Thorough cooking of all wild game is important and freezing for long periods of time is ineffective. Most trappers have been pretty successful and one of our friends got two mink Sunday night. We were going home from checking our traps Sunday morning when two big cock pheasants stood in the middle of the road about 70 feet in front of us. They seemed to know they were safe and just walked away. Some hunters would give a lot to see such a handsome pair of birds in a cornfield. HEBE AND THERE OT BUSINESS Fred J.
