Open House Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stewart wore their fifty years of married life well as they greeted ^friends Sunday in their home. Mrs. Stewart wore a dress of rich brown made festive with a corsage of golden crysanthemums. Mr. Stewart wore a golden crysanthemum in the buttonhole of his blue suit. The table^ was set with gold twisted candles, mums, cake decorated with gold leaves, gold and brown candy mints and nuts. There were golden mum cut flowers and plants in the house and several packages wrapped in gold paper to signify the very special day. Around the hall mirror were scores of cards congratulating the Stewarts on their anniversary. Throughout the afternoon and evening many, many friends called at the Stewart home and recalled old times and renewed old acquaintances. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart furnished altar flowers for the Community church in honor of their anniversary. Rotary Last week the Rotarians heard John Popenhagen ^nd Bob Christensen give a report of their trip to Boys State at Springfield. Rotary sends one boy each year. The visitors were Joe Gausden and Bert Harrison from Mc- Henry. The Richmond club received ?n invitation from the McHenry c'ub to attend their dinner dance Dec. 13 at Chapel Hill near Johnsburg. Yesterday was Bill Westmont's birthday. We hope he had a pleasant one. This week the Rotary planned to have Otto Gandenberger from Dist. 98 in Germany, exchange student as their guest speaker. ClHirch News The Good Fellowship Group met yesterday for their Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Homer Clark with Mrs. Ethel Kilboum and Dr. Bertha S»:afei as cohostesses. Members brought warm clothing for Hungarian refugees. Tonight the Women's Council of the Community Church will meet. Sunday the Christmas Vesper Service will be held at vhe Community Church. At that time the Junior Choir will sing and the pageant of Christmas will be presented. The Junior Youth Fellowship will go caroling after the vesper service Sunday. Sunday evening the Senior Youth Fellowship will meet at Grace Church with a Christmas program and Christmas devotions. St. Joseph's church and Grace Church sent tlie used clothing they collected for overseas relief. St. Joseph's sent about 1000 lbs. while Grace Church sent 478 lbs. The Sunday School Christmas program at Grace Church will be held the evening of Dec. 23, a week from Sunday. Hospitalized Sport Buchert has been a hospital patient, in Chicago for a week or more now. We hope he will soon be home again. Helen Klemstein is a patient in the Woodstock hospital. School News Ozzie the Safety Cop was a popular guest at the grade school on Tuesday of last week. He taught the kids safety rules and certainly made them safety cornscious . Next Wednesday the grade school will have its Christmas party, that is each room will have its own. The kids have been decorating and planning for a long time already. By this time some of the chicken pox victims are back in school and others are still out. Bonnie Pierce had a long siege j>f it. Kieth Steinke has been out with it. Ruth Carlson went back to school this week. Mr. Cotone has been teaching the eighth grade in the absence of Mr. Johnson who has been in bed for more than a week now. Home Bureau News Tomorrow the afternoon unit of Home Bureau will^meet. Next Tuesday evening the evening unit will meet to hear the home advisor give the lesson on "Cooking for Company." The unit will exchange Christmas gifts and sell home made cookies to each other. Oyster Blaque 2 tablespoons quick-cooking' 1 tablespoon minced onion tapioca 3 cups milk 1-1/4 teaspoons salt^ 1 cup light cream 1/8 teaspoon paprika 1 cup coarsely chopped oysters Dash of cayenne (1-1/4 cups whole oysters) 2 tablespoons butter Combine quick-cooking tapioca, salt, paprika, cayenne, onion, milk, and cream in top of double boiler. Place over rapidly boiling water and cook 10 to 15 minutes, stirring frequently. Add oysters and butter and mix. Keep over hot water 15 to 20 minutes, to heat thoroughly and blend flavors. Serve in cups or bowls. Garnish with chopped parsley or a dash of paprika, if desired. Makes about 5 cups, or 4 to 6 servings.
