For this is a dish to comfort and lo warm, a dish of relishing flavor,, with an aroma that promises good eating. The browned pork chops rest atop sauerkraut enriched with sauteed onions, tomatoes, seasonings, bread crumbs and canned apple sauce. The apple sauce blends with the tomatoes and sauerkraut, adding its own apple deliciousness. See how easy the dish is to prepare, too--practically everything in it, except the chops, comes out of a can or jar! PORK-KRAUT *N' APPLE CASSEROLE 2 large onions, sliced l/« cup butter or margarine 1 No. 2 can tomatoes 2 teaspoons sugar , 1 teaspoon salt and psppw Pinch oregano 1 cup soli bread crumbs 2 cups canned apple sauce lA cup prepared horseradish 1 No. 2 can sauerkraut* drained 6 -- 1" pork chops Salt and pepper Saute onions in butter or margarine, add tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper, oregano and bread crumbs. Combine apple sauce and horseradish, mix vrelL Combine tomato mixture, apple sauce mixture and sauerkraut. Pour into covered casserole. Saute pork chops until goldeh brown. Lay chops on sauerkraut mixture, sprinkle with salt arid pepper. Cover; bake in moderately hot oven, 375® F., 1 hoUr and 40 minutes, or until chops are lender. Yields 6 servings.
