Mr. Gandenberger is studying at Northwestern university. •Rotary is, proud to have a part in the exchange student program. The visiting Rotarians last week were Charles Mestsian and Armon Lund from Wilmette, A1 Bgfbain, Joe Gausden and A1 Blake, from McHenry, J. G. Stevens was a guest of Floyd Foss- Frank May was, still recuperating'at the time of the last meeting. This week the Rotarians hope to have Santa Claus as their guest at their Christmas party. Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Santa Claus will be at the annual Christmas party for the ftHldren Of the community. The party will be held at Memorial hall, so come all you young fry and see St. Nick in person. We heard he wftl give a bag of goodies to each one pesent. Rotary will have a two-week vacation since Christmas and New Year's day fall on Rotary meeting day. Merry Christmas from Rotary. Congratulations! Mr. and Mrs. Robert McKenndry are the happy parents of a little girl, born at Woodstock hospital on Dec. 12. The little one will be called Kathleen Bessy and is the first child for the Mc- Kenndrys. Mrs. McKenndry is the former Mary Rudolph of rural Richmond. , ^ Faculty Party This is the season for .Christmas parties. Last Saturday night the grade and high school teachers, with their spouses, gathered for a party. The Lindholms and the Morgansons were the hosts and hostesses at the home of the Lindholms. The teachers enjoyed playing games and eating interesting refreshments. - ™ P.T.A. Potluck Supper The grade school P.T.A. had a potluck supper last Wednesday vat the school. It was fairly well attended considering the storm we had on that day. The third grade mothers cooked delicious meat loaf and each set of parents brought a dish to pass. Church News Ofhis is the busy season for the churches and a happy one, too, with the preparations for Christmas and the birthday of a King. At the Sunday School service of the Community Church, Sunday morning, the children brought gifts to be distributed by the Chicago City Missionary society. Last Sunday at the morning service, new brass candelabra were dedicated at Grace church along with a purple stole for the pastor. The stole was made by Mrs. Harry Herman. Last Sunday afternoon, the Community church had its annual Christmas vesper ( service, with alj the dhildren of the Sunday School participating. The junior choir, under the direction of Mrs. Edwin Wittmayer, sang several Christmas songs and was the background for the Christmas pageant. The primary and nursery children sang songs at the manger. • After the service, the junior choir went carolling at the homes of the many shutins of the community. After singing, the kids returned to the church for supper. Sunday evening, the Senior Youth Fellowship group had a Christmas program, studying the prophecies in the Bible which tell of the coming of Christ. They also saw a Christmas filmstrip, "O Holy flight." The Christian service group of the Community church had a luncheon at the home of M&. Harry Anderson yesterday. Last night, the Junior Youth Fellowship group held its Christmas party at the Community church at 7:30. Tonight, the people who will be received into membership in Grace church Sunday will meet for an informal reception at the Lutheran parsonage. Tomorrow, the friendship group will meet at the home of Mrs. Frank Buchert, with Mrs. Evelyn Krumpen as co-hostess. Friday evening at 10 p.m., on Channel 2, the film, "Martin Luther," will have its world TV premiere. This/ film is being shown as a prelude to the Chicago area evangelism program to be held in February. It's worth watching. Saturday morning, the children of Grace church will rehearse for the Christmas service on Sunday evening. Sunday morning, the Community church Sunday School will meet in the church to hear Dr. Bertha Shafer read a Christmas story. At that service, gifts for children in Nachusa Children's home will be brought -- namely mittens, stockings or scarves. Christmas eve. at 10:30 pjn., Grace church will hold its annual candlelight service. The community is invited to participate in this service to usher in the birthday of the Christ Child. The choir has prepared special anthems and carols for this festive service. Worship in the church of your choice and pay homage to the newborn King. High School News Tonight the Richmond team will- play basketball at Darien. Last week, Harold Huff, a RBCHS graduate of the class of '56, visited school while he was home on leave. Harold will return to Camp Pendleton, Calif., later this month and . will go overseas after that. Harold is a Marine. . The senior class play, "Papa Knows All", a comedy, will be presented in January. Bob Howe was chosen to present the Richmond chapter of F.F.A. at the Chamber of Commerce 4-H, F.F.A. dinner in Woodstock. Bob had the best supervised farming program in the chapter. The local chapter is sponsoring tickets for Bob's parents so that they can be there for his honors. Bill Harm, class of '53, visited school while he was home. He has returned td Camp Foley, Ala. Mr. Patton, former English teacher, visited school recently. He and his wife are living at Crown Point, Ind., where Mrs. Patton is teaching in a nearby town. Mr. P. is affiliated with a variety store chain in Crown Point. Bob Christensen was chosen by the Chicago Herald America^ for the half-back position on the All-Little Northern Illinois football team. This eleven-man team is made up of outstanding players from small Northern Illinois high schools. The general business class recently visited the post office, where they viewed the machinery necessary to operate for ihail service in our town. The post office employees, Darwin Ehorn, Ross Courtemas and Tom Bower were good hosts for the young people enjoyed themselves. They attended church at Grace church and had dinner at the home of the Evan Vogels, Mrs. Benesh is the former Joyce Schmidtke. k Last week, Misses Myra and Edna Speaker had as dinner guests their niece and nephew from California. Denny Hoffman missed several days of school last week when he cut his neck on a piece of glass which was very deftly removed for him. Mrs. Eleanor.^Schnier and her son, John, were , dinner guests at the H. Carlson 'home on Sunday. John celebrated his thirteenth birthday with his cousins. Dr. and Mrs. Harris have returned from a well earned vacation in Florida. We hope they basked in the^ sunlight alid rested a lot. A few more chicken-pox victims are in bed and a few have recovered.
