Johnsburg News By Hn. Betty Hettermann . St. John's Clitirch News On Thursday, March 7, our church was honored to have His Excellency, the Most Reverend Bishop T. Lane, to say the 9 o'clock Mass. Following the Mass, a large group of children and adults received the Sacrament of confirmation. Our good Sisters are to be congratulated on the rehearsing, of the class, the beautifully decorated altars and the wonderful job the choir did on this particular day. Father Blitsch was justly proud when he was congratulated, on the §mooth performance of the entire congregation. Lenten services at St. John's church will be held on Wednesday and Friday evenings at 7:3G. The t-osary will be recited followed by a sermon given by a visiting Speaker on Wednesday evening. Stations will be said on Fridays and Benediction on both nights. Capitol Visitors Laura Schmitt and Isabelle Stilling travelled to Springfield, last Week, to participate in a bowling tournament. You will remember Laura and Isabelle won first place in team event at the Farm Bureau tournament in Woodstock last month. March Birthdays Many babies saw the first light in the blustering month of March. Fred Huemann celebrated his birthday on March 4 while Mrs. Sal Smith chose the 5th as her natal day. Arnie Nichels and Vivian Smith Jiave something in common--they Share March 9 as a dual birthday. Jim Hettermann has his birthday on March 14 while Mary Hettermann has one coming up on Manch 20. Bobby Einspar will reach his third milestone this month. Mrs. Cora Herdrich celebrated her birthday on March 4 with her immediate family. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Huff were pleasantly surprised last weekend when they received a phone call from their son Jack, who is stationed with the army in Washington. Mr. and Mrs. George Hiller and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hiller visited in Chicago last Saturday. They went to see the new daughter of the Harvey Freunds., Lt. and Mrs. Norman Neiss were Sunday visitors at the George Hiller home. The Neisses are, enroute to his new station in Minneapolis. MOOSE LODGE WOMEN OF THE MOOSE The regular Tuesday evening meeting was called to order by the senior regent. We welcome into our membership three new co-workers, Marjorie Hicks, Harriet Formella and Elsie Cynowa. During the past week, a new future Moose member was born. Congratulations to Mary Diettert on her baby boy. We were sorry Bertha Jager was not among us, for by not being present she lost out on the five dollar attendance award. The meeting was closed by Madeline Mayfield, senior regent. Refreshments were seved by Claire Seeber and her Moosehaven Committee. Around the Town Kathy, Sandy and Jean Hettermann appeared in a dance recital at the McHenry high school last Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. John Thelen can be added to the list of lucky vacationers. The Thelens flew to the warmer climate of Florida recently.
