While the granddaughters were visiting at their home, Mr. and Mrs. Sucliff took the girls to see their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Carter. Mr. Carter, who is Mrs. Hiland's brother, and his wife live in Artisia, New Mexico. The girls enjoyed this trip and returned with cacti from the New Mexico desert. Lilymoor Garden Club The regular meeting of the Lilymoor Garden club was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 4, at the home of Mrs. Herman Crawley. Enjoying angel pie, roasted nuts, mints and coffee were Mesdames Maurice Haines, Victor Bassi, Herbert Fantus, Earel Belford, Garrison Latimer, Donald Leske and Louis Schueler. Susie Crawley entertained the group with a number from her dance recital. Business discussed included dues, plans for new memberships, flower shows and joining a national garden club. Mrs. Haines and Mrs. Crawley displayed their tomato plants which they started in boxes inside. St. Joseph Feast The grand feast to honor St. Joseph will be held in the Parratore home on Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24. The celebration of the feast is to be held in true Italian tradition, with invitations extended to protestant and Jewish families as well as Catholic. The two-day celebration will begin on Saturday, when guests are invited to enter and view the decorated table and altar. Oh the eve of the feast, one of the parish priests will enter to do the table blessing ceremony and prayer. On Sunday, four neighborhood children will be prepared to portray the saints, St. Joseph, St. Anthony and Baby Jesus and The Blessed Mother. Charlene Hiland on Feb. 22. Sandy Counley was 10 years old on March 8. Mrs. Maurice Haines was greeted on Monday, March 4, with a 'Happy Birthday' at the Garden club. The city of Chicago was 120 years old on March 4. On the same day, Timmy Spears celebrated his fourteenth birthday with John arid Eugene Mullen as his guests. Carole Schueler celebrates her fifteenth birthday on Wednesday, March 20. Each member brought a sock, needle, thimble and darning cotton to darn and to learn how to handle a needle and thread. We discussed our tour which we plafl to have on March 16. We had booklets passed out to the girls taking sewing .this year. The officers for 1957 were elected as follows: President, Carolyn Jacobson; vice-president, Diana Winn; secretary, Peggy Gunderson; treasurer, Sandra Schlosser and reporter, Carole Zastrow.
