Blaze At Bungalow Inn A fire which could have resulted in serious damage was aborted last Thursday by a trusty German shepard and the prompt and efficient action of the McHenry rural fire-fighters. At about 7 p.m. Ron Spelton, manager of the Bungalow Inn in Lilymoor, and Ken Hansen were led from their duties to go outside and investigate the cause of the constant barking of Mr. Spelton's dog. On the roof they discovered a fire in rapid progress and fanned to incendiary heat by a strong March wind. Spelton and Hansen grabbed a small hand extinguisher and ladder and proceeded to the roof, hopeful they could put out what appeared to be a small blaze. Hampered by the terrific gale and suffering minor burns on the face and eyes from the carbon tetrachloride in the extinguisher, the men soon realized the situation was beyond their scope. Spelton phone the McHenry fire department who arrived shortly and soon had the fire under control. Manager Spelton was especially grateful for this prompt action and also mentioned that the tiremen removed the debris and despite the destruction oF two booths, it was possible to remain . open for the evening. The fire was caused by rain blown into a transformer on the outside of the building. sen was the guest of honor as he is terminating his civil service position at the Great Lakes training center.
