The surilmer schedule/ will go into effect Sunday, May 26, when the Masses will be as follows: Daily Mass, 8 a.m. and at second Mass as announced. Sunday passes, oh the hour, 7, 8, 9, ,10, 11 ahd 12. Confessions will be from 4 to 4:30 • mQ.tn. and 7 to 7:45 p.m. starting Saturday, June 1 and each Saturday thereafter. ! v May Grewning The May crowning of the Blessed Mother took place at Christ the King church ; Sunday afternoon, May 12, at 3pm. About seventy- five grade school children participated in the procession. The girls were dressed in pastel dresssftes and wore fresh wreaths of green in their hair. They carried flowers which they laid at the ffeet of the Blessed Mother statue. Miss Joyce Motulewicz had the honor of crowning the Blessed Mother with a ^ wreath of fresh flowers. Joyce was attired in a lovely white gown with a veil. The young men who participated wore dark trousers, white shirts and --ties. The impressive ceremony consisted of the procession, the crowning, Rosary, Litany and Benediction. Father Vanderpool expressed the gratitude of all to the Sisters of the"®lessed Trinity for the splendid work in conducting catechism during the past year; also to Mrs/ Doris Crane and Mrs. pat Wright and the members of the Junior Altar and ^Rosary sodality gy)jp helped with the children. The Sisters wftjl conduct a vacation school this summer from Monday, June ID; , through Saturday, June 15. All the children of the parish are invited to attend, both public and Catholic school students. The following activities will be included: Boys, fifth through eighth |;rade, woodwork; ^ girls, fifth through"eighth grade, ® sewing; boys and girls, second through fourth grade, handcraft; kindergarten and first' grade boys i and girls, handcraft and coloring. The daily schedule (except two days for outings) will be 9 a.m. Mass, 9:30 instructions, 10 assembly, 10:10 roll call and classes. Registration for vacation school will take place sifter all Masses at church on Sunday,: May 19, only. ^ Injured - In Accident. k Mrs. Richard Pickrum suffered a broken nose and numerous bruises Thursday, May 19, whenher car went out of control on Lake Shore Drive nr Deep Spring Woods and hit a cement abutment. The station wagon was badly damaged. Mrr* Dickman and Mr. Burns came to her aid and she was taken to the McHenry ^ hospital for treatment. Mrs. Pickrum was alone when the accident happened and she is grateful no one else was involved. Wonder Lake Garden Club Tlie members of the Wonder Lake Garden club brought a flower from their garden to the meeting Thursday, May 9, to present when their name was called. The meeting was held in the home of Mrs. Charles Kopp, with Mrs. Elizabeth Munson, Mrs. Tony Weretka and Mrs. Victor Milbrandt as co-hostesses. The ladies worked on corsagcs which were taken to the residents at the McHenry county home at HartinnJ by Mrs. Kopp and Pastor Schroeder. The Garden club members will plant flowers and maintain the triangle at the Center this summer. Mrs. Ralph White, who was to have been hostess for this meeting, fell in one of the stores,at the Center last week and was hos-' pitalized for several days at Har-; vard. i Hie members of the club and other friends wish Tier a speedy recovery. Women's Bowling Banquet' ' The Wednesday Nighter's 12, women's bowling league, held pn end-of-the-season banquet at Antioch, Wednesday, May 8. About seventy-five women were present to see the first place trophy go to the American Legion auxiliary for thQ second year, with seventy games won and twenty-nine lost. Each member of the team was presented with a small trophy. Second place winners were Cristy and Stendebach team; third place. Rolaine Grill team; and 2fourth place, Logan Screw Products team. Seven women were recognized for having bowled over a 200 game. They were Catherine Noble, 215; Loretta Meyer, 210; Libby Johnson, 209; Therese Jiriga, 207, Louise Marke, 203, and Marianne Cristy, 202. Officers for the coming year were elected and, the#' will be: President, Francis Matchen of McHenry; vice - president, Libby Johnson, Wonder Lakqf; secretary, Margaret Gates, McHenry; treasurer, R6se Marie Schmitt, McHenry; and sergaant-at-arms, Doris Crane, Wonder Lake. Nativity Lutheran Church . The sermon topic at both worship services, 8 and 10:45 a.m.. on., May 19 will be 'The Spirit of God." Everyone is always welcome to the .church, "Where you are a stranger only once". The men of the Brotherhood convention to be held at Ridge Lutheran church. The convention begins at 5. The Luther league will also be traveling that day. They will attend the Fox Valley district Luther league rally al Joliet. All young people are invited to attend. The rally begins at 3 p.m. and all desiring to go are to meet at the church at 1. Hie Brotherhood will have an important and interesting meeting Monday, May 20, at 8. Dr. O. E. Nelson or Woodstock will speak "bn "The Story of Cancer, and the* American Cancer Society." All men are invited to what is sure to be an interesting meeting concerning this great killer. Dr. Nelson comes well qualified to speak on this timely and important topic. He is the vice-chairman of the American Cancer society in McHenry county, he is on the state board of directors of the society and serves on the national medical and science board of the society. He has given much of his time to speak on cancer, and has done much to help people better understand this dread disease. The Women of the Church met Monday, May 6, and held an election of officers for the- coming year. They will be: President. Virginia Young; vice-president and chairman of Christian education. Julia Walsh: secretary, Gertrude Koeffer; corresponding secretary. Eve Levesque; treasurer, Sylvia Pearson; chairman' of Christian service, Marion Cannon; chairman of membership committee, Alice Wagner; devotional chairman, Lois Schroeder; and refreshment chairman, Lorraine Young. Born presided at a musical evening in his home Saturday, May 11. Several couples were on hand to enjoy hearing how, at the age of 78, his fingers brought out the beautiful music of Beethoven, Mendelssohn and other composers making the music "talk" with the expression he used while playing. One number, "Night Song", by Litta Lynn, was played entirely with the left hand and all were amazed at the music tl^at came forth. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Marke, Jr., Of Cleveland, Ohio, arp the proud parents of a girl, born May 6. The little miss will,answer to the name Kim Ivette. The equally proud grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Marke, will fly to Cleveland for the christening of little Kim, which will be May 25. A small sick child in the hospital will have her stay brightened by the thoughtfulness of a young miss here at Wonder Lake. Dr. Ruggero was given a lovely collection doll by this young girl and asked to see that it was presented to some "sick little girl" in the hospital. The name of the giver has been withheld as her 1 : mother does not want her to feel this is an act of unusual occurence. PHOTO CONTEST The state parks of Illinois are approching the perfection of their spring beauty, and ^popular interest in Gov. William" G. Stratton's third annual state park photo contest is rising. Prizes to be awarded amateur photographers will include $500 in cash awards to be presented by Gov. Stratton at the Illinois state fair on Aug. 13, and free week end vacations for two persons in Chicago and in Springfield.
