Be sure and watch for all, the details of the new projects being started in the community. mat A Night The newcomers' dance on May ~25~ was a howling success. Newcomers and oldcomers enjoyed dancjng, refreshments and meeting new friends. But the highlight of the evening definitely was the spectacular floor show put on by our local yokels. To open the show Carl Haefliger played a few lively numbers on his banjo while the crowd joined him in singing. This put everyone in the mood for the "Highland Hicks," who were Toots Spankuch, Pat Jackson and Wanda Dobecki in disguise. They "sang" a number which ended up sounding strangely' like the Mc- Guire. sisters. Next, the spectators joined in a game of "Beat the Clock," led by the very able M.C. for the evening, George Mitchell. The grand finale was a group very misleadingly called the Pistakee symphonic quintet. This unforgettable five were attired in calypso costumes and used dome very strange looking instruments for their musical r^JL_*flS^rnpaniment. They were Floyd Johnson, Roger Pechous, Skip \Vilson, Lou Spankuch and Don Dobecki and they did three numbers which aptly displayed their individual talent and proved hilarious to watch. They will be the Spike Jones group of Pistakee in the future and I'm sure they will be called Upon to do another number for future engagements. It was very nice to see so many newcomers and make so many new friends. A lot of our old timers couldn't make it and I'm sure they're--soTry they missed the fun. As usual, the success of a party like this i£ Hue to the help of many, so we7wish to thank the memberships committee for planning it and donating the sandwiches and all the performers and all the gals who helped make candles for tables and decorate the barn. They all donated their time and talent just so We could all have a good time and I know they succeeded very well. We'r | already looking forward to the next one. Bowling Banquet The 'teenagers also had their evening for fun when they had their bowling banquet on May 24 at the barn. The sandwiches, salads, etc., were donated by the moms and everyone had a good time eating and dancing. The decorating was done by Erna Rockel and helpers and they wish to give a special thanks to Dot Johnson^ who organized the evening of fun for them. Denny Litwin was in charge of the issuing of trophies, which was the highligt of the evening. It's A Boy for Betty and Thomas Warczak, born in Berwyn on May 22. The little guy is now home forsfriends to see after Memorial DaVand both maraa and baby are,feeing fine. It was a long wait but they are all staying with the Warczaks. are all very happy, especially grandma who has been staying with the Warczaks. It's Another Year for Judy and Frank Krumweide, who are celebrating their fourth anniversary., Congratulations and many more. , Girl Scouts The carhpsite for the summer day camp for girls has been located in McHenry. The Scouts are all looking forward to the outing which will be in July. Extra Pick-up Don't forgelt Saturday, June 8, is the day for the extra pick-up for your garbage, trash and debris. So start gathering up all that extra rubbish. Place yur containers on the street as usual. • Sick List So sorry to hear that Edna Gilbert fell and broke her foot. She has it in a cast now and'is feeling better but I'll bet she would appreciate some cards or company while convalescing. Little Pam Pechous is feeling better now that she's home. She had a fall in hejyyard while carrying a stick^arfa it was discovered a littj&-43ter that she cut her h pretty badly and had to be Pushed to the hospital to have it She's feeling better but I'll bW she isn't playing with sticks any more. A case of the flu caused Grace Reinhart to miss the newcomers dance and her part in the floor show., . Cake Cutters > May 25 was a big day at the Sabielny household since it was "a double celebration for housewarming and Tommy Sabielny's birthday. He was 1 year old. A surprise gift for Tommy was a musical giant teddy beai: from Germany, sent by his aunt and uncle. Relatives who came for the affair were Mr. and Mrs. Ekhardt, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. barberry, Mr. and Mrs. Fuchs, .Otto and Ed^ Sabielny, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Sabielny and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peters, from Tomahawk. Locals friends and neighbors joined ifi the festivities to make it a day to be long remembered by everyone. Emma Eide has 1 been looking forward for a year to a visit with her mother and now she need wait no longer since her mother-is visiting for a couple of weeks. We miss the familiar face Of Hazel Rogde, who is in DeKalb for a few days, visiting with her family. Bob Jenkins has been having luck fishing in the channel near his home so the Jenkins and their next door neighbors, the Sabielnys enjoyed a fish fry last week. If his luck holds out, they plan ^o: make it a weekly affair. ,. Don "Dobecki" really threw himself into his fishing last week when he took a little spill in the channel while fishing from the dredge.
