Congratulations to all of the happy family. Christened Last Sunday was' a very big day in the life of little Julie Ann Van Zevern for she was christened oh that day at the Ingleside Methodist church, Mr. and Mrs. Hight were th6 godparents and attended the usual happy celebration held after the christening. Our best wishes to Julie Ann. Just In Case You j didn't notice, the circu£- in town last week. Quite a few of the local children of all ages attended. Mrs. Bunny TTielen and her three little Thelens, Jackie, Mary Beth, and Suzy enjoyed the talented antics with some friends of theirs. We also noticed the Ferris family1, as well as the bobecki girls and.the.-Hayners were there. I'm sure they all had a go.od time, including the mamas and daddys. > Are.We Talking About You? • It seems in every community there is stfmeone who enjoys going around destroying or misusing the things that others; .have spent much time and labor making. A recent example is our signs. i=A couple of volunteers cently spent many many hounf painting signs to be posted for Keryone's benefit. Someone, mayor maybe not a child or teenager, has taken the trouble to That Busy Man George Van Zevern is off, for a two day visit to Davenport, Iowa to attend the zone H conference Of toastmasters. This conference includes toastmasters from the states of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri. This activity keeps him going but he still finds plejity of time to keep a close" tab on the treasurer's, report for the association. It's Goodbye to those pesty mosquitos for a while,9 and Tm sure that none will be sorry to see them go! We hope that by the time this paper reaches you the spraying will already have taken place arid you will be able to sit out in your yard as you read this. At this writing, the forms are ready to pass out to the councilmen for distribution. Under this present system the whole subdivision is being sprayed and each home will be assessed the same amount. If we get 100 per cent cooperation in paying this charge some small refunds may be possible. With the whole subdivision being sprayed the control of bugs will be much more effective and will last longer and with everyones' cooperation will cost just a little more than having your in- «. * 4. • Al_ dividual house done. Perhaps it was the prank of a practical joker or child that did not realize that someone sacrificed time he could have spent relaxing with his family making thpse signs and still others spent iffiftie posting them. That seems to be the only explanation for these so called pranks., But some of. us fail to recognize as pranks anything that destroys things or their purpose. So please urge your children to respect public property and help them and others -to realize the difference between a practical joke and molesting property. Birthday Boys • 'A special little wish to a special little boy (at least to his parents) goes to Robbie Jackson who was two last Sunday. We hope he had a real nice time with all the trimmings. pay this extra amount. Please cooperate so all of us can enjoy this benefit with the smallest charge possible. Pistakee Patter We slipped again. Last week's column mentioned that Emma Eides' birthday was celebrated by 'Behtzes a coffee party at J*kt Jackson's while actually it was Dee Gregg that had a small luncheon in her honor. All the neighbors dropped in with; best wishes to Emma. Sorry, we'll just have to have this typewriter fixed. ' Wally and Kay Sielisch will be celebrating their seventeenth wedding anniversary Saturday, June 29, by having home friends and relatives in fOr dinner. Congratulations to the happy couple. Kay was recently laid up with*an attach of bursitis, and would like all her neighbors to know how much she appreciated their assistance. A special thanks to Marilyn VanZevern, Dorothy Toma and Tom and Betty Warczak. 'And all Kay's neighbors would like to give her a vote of thanks for the wonderful job she's been doing as councilman for her district. Ruth Lemmons has just retired from punching that old time clock. She's decided to quit working for awhile and spend her summer puttering around the yard. Can't say we blame her. The Clarks recently moved into their new home at 417 W. Broadway.' Air their free time is now taken up with painting, etc. A card from the Ristow family reports that they arrived in Miami safe and sound and enjoyed their trip South very much. The Johnson family recently drove to Camp Lowden 'to visit their son, Lee, who is a counselor at the camp this summer. They had a wonderful time and reports he likes the camp very much. The Rogers were happy to have their son, Roger, with them recently when he was enroute from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. to Fort Chaffee, Ark. Their daughter, Pat, also stopped home to visit the folks after her two week trip to California. While Mrs. Haofliger was enjoying her visit in Hawaii with her son the Mr. was home holding the fort so his neighbors, the Bakers, were nice enough to invite, him over for chicken dinner last Sunday. That's having good neighbors I'tf'say. We're all glad to hear that Mrs. Emmerich is home from the hospital and on her way to recovery. She still needs a lot of rest but we hope she is well real soon. I think the award for best fisherman in the community should go to Mrs. John Pechous for she is out there on that pier come rain or come shine trying" her luck. She manages to keep her freezer well stocked even though she gives most of her catches away to friends and neighbors. If you haven't been to the la'tely,' they ' hdve just VILLA NURSING HOME ON PISTAKEE BAF, NEAR McHENRY Home for the Aqed SENILE BED PATIENTS redecorated• their living room in the very latest. It's very nice from what we hear. V It's a very happy eighth' anniversary to Dot and Roy Hayner. It was June II and we're a little late but we hope they had a very nice day. Like most of us they probably stayed home and worked around the house. ' "» Weeds I , We are getting rid of mosquitos now but the weeds on all thfe empty lots will soon bring moreT The lot owners are -.supposed to keep the weeds down ..or we can have «it done and send bills to those who haven't done their part (as stated in the land contracts). Something should be ddne. Don't forget to time out next Wednesday ^vchin^ July 3 for those picnic plasty attend the community meeting.;And have a very nice time oi^tfiiat July 4 outing and we'll next week. . Iiips on raf f ic Safety CHARLES F CAR. PENTIER SCc r c t .1 r y of S t .1 f o Many accidents could be avoided if motorists were on the alert for accident "signs." Actually, some of these signs are BO obvious that one must wonder how some accidents can possibly follow them. Take for Instance the partly opened door on a parked car. That certainly should be taken as a sign that someone may jump into the path of the vehicle you are driving. BOY SCOUTS Lakemoor Ti Lakemoor boys ofe invited to join the Lakemoor troop which meets., Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Lakemoor fire station. One of the most glaring signs of this type is a ball which comes bouncing out into thp street. It .most be reasoned that, the hall'will be followed by a happy carefree youngster. The bouncing ball should caution the driver to reduce his speed and be on the alert for a youngster. A driver who spots loose gravel on th(p pavement should be on the alert. Loose gravel can throw a car Into a spin in a matter of seconds. This sign calls for automatic reduction in speed.
