General Meeting Vrnere will be % generaf meeting of the members of the Lakeland Park • Property Owners' association on Sunday, June 30 at 8 j».m. at the American Legion hall In McHenry. It was decided to hold these general meetings oftener to enable the fiieople to come and express their opinions' and ask questions of , the board members. It is important for all wjoperty owners to attend these Meetings, so do make an effort to come. Dedication Don't forget the park site dedication on July 4 at 2 p.m. This will be a historic milestone in the history of our community. For those of you who are not sure where the park* site is, it is bordered by Allen avenue on the-east fcrRd Willow Lane on the north, jfhis should be a very impressive ceremony, we hope to see ydu all there. # * Carnival Plans The beach committe met- oh Saturday evening, June 22 at the hortie of Roy Meineke to discuss plans for the carnival. The big event is scheduled for the nights of July 17, 18, 19 and 20 and the afternoon of the 20. The committee is seeking more 'volunteer workers and if you are interested in helping out call Helen Strandquist at 1921 or Floyd Leigh at 1900 and offer your services. Books of tickets for the various rides can be obtained from any of the members of the committee. There is considerable savings by buying them this way, and those a* you who have any children will Hid this method handy. Junior 'Teen News The Junior 'Teen clu|> held a meeting on Wednesday evening, June 19. they discussed new rules for the club and set their age limits to 11 to 14 years for girls and 11 to 15 years for boys. New committees were set up with Kenny O'Gara, Gene Glosson, Sanfy Bucaro and Susan Balquist"orf he entertainment committee and Judy Meineke, Beverly Grote, Tom Meller and Tom Kujak serving on the welcoming committee. A ways and means committee will be chosen at the next meeting, which will be held on July 3 at the Rogers home. They also made plans for their outing at Riverview Park in Chicago for June 26. The Junior 'Teen sponsors are asking for volunteers to drive for the club's outings through the summer. Call Virginia Grote 502- J-2. Accident At Beach While swimming and playing down at the beach Thursday evening Paul Heber was seriously injured. Paul stepped on a broken bottle and cut the main tendon in his foot. He was rushed to the McHenry hospital and on Friday morning he Underwent surgery, Although he was able to return home on Sunday, he will have his leg in a cast for six to eight more weeks. This certainly isn't a very pleasant prospect for the summer months. We are sure Paul would like to receive some mail and visits. The Hebers have had their share of misfortune recently and we hope that this will be the last of trouble. We are able to report that Joe is coming along very nicely after his recent stroke. It's good to see him walking, around in his yard. Warning The above item should serve as a warning to all to be very careful about discarding bottles, etc., on the beach premises. Mr. Hucke's sister, Mrs. Pauline Fournier of Oak Lawn died this past week. Another Daughter For Rosemary and Frank Holas of Shore Drive. Sweet, petite Sharee Lynn made her worldly debut on June 19 at the Memorial hospital in Woodstock. The tiny little bundle of joy and noise weighed 5 lbs. '4 oz. Waiting at home to assist with the baby-sitting chores is two year old Debbie. Took A Nip Bill Glooson looked like a tasty qieal to a Great Dane last week -- and you know the size of those Great Danes. Anyway, Bill didn"tr\ come out too badly and her^anqi the dog are doing fin. Birthday Honors Tom Gleeson was honored at a beach party on Friday evening, June 21 to celebrate his birthday. The .guests were served a picnic supper and later they enjoyed a bit of harmonizing around a bonfire. They invited the Ray Grotes and Bud Wallwork of Morton Grove, and Helen Kirkpatrick Of Chicago to partake of some delicious barbecued chicken, ribs, and hamburgers. From the reports we got everything was scrumptious and it was no place for anyone on tf diet. Virginia acted as chief cook and Irene as head dish washer . . . sounds as tho' the boys had nothing to do but loaf and enjoy the good food. Coming and Going Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brooks, Barbara and Peter spent a Jew days in Chicago visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Gilbertsen, Patricia and Edward were in Chicago on Friday and Saturday. Friday evening June attended a lovely wedding shower for a niece. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brooks, Jr., and their son and daughter visited Kay and Joe Brooks this past weekend. -Also Ann and George Thor were guests at the Brooks' home. Lyda and Bill Radisch spent the Father's Day weekend in Chicago with their family; they returned home on Tuesday, accompanied by their little granddaughter, Susan Riley. Lyda ran in to what she calls difficulties' though . she was nominted ffir president of Railway Express Unit No. 790 American Legion auxiliary. Although she declined (again and again) her Objections were over-ruled and she was unanimously elected. Lyda maintains she was conscripted or drafted! She has been treasurer for 12 years, and is a charter member. Bill contends he is still her superior as he* is past commander of Post No. 790 and has been re-elected historian for the seventeenth time. Among , the guests at the Radisch home this past week were Mr. and Mrs. John Galvin of Norwood Park, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lorenz of Chicago/ and Carl and Jacqueline Riley and son, Carl Jr., who came to reclaim Susan who has been spending the week with grandma and grandpa. Saturday visitors at the Larry Strandquist home were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Swanson ahd Cathy and Kurt of Homewood. , Summer time guest at the Vince Alesi home is their nephew Ricky linger of Chicago. He made the trip to be present at his parents' silver wedding and to take part in a solemn High MasS as sub-deacon on June 22, honoring his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freund, who observed their twenty-fifth" anniversary on that day. A breakfast will be served for the immediate family after Mass., A reception, with open house' for all relatives and friends began at , 5 p.m., ending at midnight. Miss Judy Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Olson, has stars ih her eyes and sparkles on her left hand. Her engagement was announced last week to Dave Smith of Richmond. The wedding will take place in the fall. The nuns of St. Peter's school visited Miss Joan Meyer in Children's Memorial hospital in Milwaukee, Wis., last Thursday. The bake sale held by the Christian Mother sodality of St. Peter's on Sunday morning was a great success. The committee is grateful to all who inade this possible. " % Boys from here who have joined the Pony league in Fox Lake are Dan and Vic Freuijd, Ed Jessie and Jerry- Miller. They played at Antioch Sunday afternoon. Although the team lost 3 to 2 against Mundelein, it was the enthusiasm behind these boys that made the game exciting and interesting.
