They had an exhibit on trees showing various types of trees and their products and uses. Second prize also was awarded them on demonstration -- the singing of their song. We heard them from the fair grounds on radio Friday afternoon and might say we are very proud of them. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller and family are enjoying a Vacation in Stacyville, Iowa, this week. Those who enjoyed a swim party and picnic at Cedar Lake Tuesday night were Mrs. Frank Tinney and Kitty, Mrs. Charles Freund, ban and Vic, Mr. and Mrs. John McGovem and Richie. ' Mr. and Mrs.. Charles Freund and Vic attended the all-star game of, the Pony league at Antioch Saturday afternoon. Dan Freund was one of the boys chosen for the team. They witnessed a real ex~. citing game and to make it eveft better our team won 4 to 3. Mrs. Helen Smith is a patient at Michael Reese hospital, Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Buch are enjoying a vacation in northern Wisconsin this week. Mr. and Mrs. William, Shotliff, Mrs. Alice Wagner and Mrs. Nell Hawkins attended the Shotliff family reunion and picnic at Macktown, Rockton, 111. last week Sunday. Mrs. Nell Hawkins, * who has been visiting Mrs. Alice Wagner this summer, has returned to her home in Phoenix, Ariz. MORE THAN 3.000 I MOTORISTS APPLY FOR NEW LICENSES More than 3,000 motorists requested replacements last week for license plates from which the paint« has peeled, Secretary of State Charles F. Carpentfer said, recently. This brings the total number of replacements up to 18,- 000. Mr. Carpentier again urged motorists to take advantage of the manufacturer's offer to replace defective plates free of charge, sothete can be no question of full compliance with the law. All that is needed to obtain replacements is a postcard or letter to the secretary of state's office., stating that the paint has peeled from the plate, and listing the license number and the owner's name and address, Secretary Carpentier said.
