Small Fry News Lihda Lee Parratore, second grader and daughter of Henry and Lena Parratore, had a serious mishap in her back yard last ' week, when she fell while playing •_ with a bunch of her playmates ' and severely cut her hand. While the children looked helplessly on. Linda Lee was rushed to McHenry clinic where five stitches had to be taken in the palm of the little one's hand. Doggy Elopes While her master, Danny Jinks age 5, was on an extended trip to Pleasant Valley, Oregon with his mother, his dearly beloved pet, pretty Penny got a proposal of marriage from a canine spouse and decided to run away and get married. The reason she didn't wait till you got home Danny was that she felt you wouldn't let her go, and every dog wants to get married some time. Several mornings last week found residents of our village ambitiously scraping away at that frost which clung to their car windows when they awokp and got ready for work. So What? On reading an article in a Chicago paper. recently about some people who had had a second blooming of their Easter lilies, our own genial Wally Szarek was heard to say: "So what." His lilies are blooming again and anyone can see them, as are several varieties of his early roses. In fact, many of his beautiful flowers, including some Forsyth ia, are blooming few the second time this year. All of which goes to prove that McHenry county has some mighty fertile soil. Happy Birthday Sheree-Lynn Fout, daughter of John and Dawn Fout celebrated her,, second birthday last Sunday at a BIG party held in her honor. Belated happy birthday, Sheree! Richmond Community News B? Phyllis Oortaoa Girl Scouts The regular meeting of the Lakemoor Girl Scouts. was held last Thursday evening. Regular business was the order of the day, followed by a discussion on Halloween and Christmas. Nov. 1 was set as the day for their Halloween party. After discussion as to who would bring refreshments for this week, it was decided that Mary Smith and Cheryl Wolf would do the honors. Meeting was adjuorned at 8:30 p.m. a1 Girl Scout News The third meeting of the Richmond Girl Scouts was held last Thursday at the home of Mrs. F. Arsenau. } The vice-president, Barbara Arsenau called the meeting to order. The girls answered roll call by naming a bird. The girl$ learned a new song, "White Carol Bells," then decided to buy a Girl Scout scrap book, and some Girl Scout stationery. They started making buddy burners. Roberta Lindbloom, reporter. P. S. Gram and Gramp think she's just Hoo cute and sweet for words. Birthday Party Miss Fran Hamlin was the guest of honor at a birthday party given to her by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hamlin. New Bleachers The new bleachers were all ready for the game last Friday. They seat 840 people and can be taken apart and used indoors for basketball games. Sunday evening about seventy people gathered at Canrip Alpine to hear Rev. William Kmet from Oak Park tell of the greater work of the church. Pastor Carlson presented "The Grace Story", an illustrated life size book he had concocted to show the growth and progress of Grace church: Monday evening of this wfeek, instead of Monday of last week, as we had previously reported, the Community church had its dinner to present the plans for the expansion of its Sunday school quarters. Next Sunday evening both the Junior and Senior youth fellqwship groups will meet. Rally day proved to be quite successful at Grace church for the church attendance soared at the second service. Twenty-eight childreri were presented with perfect attendance awards for one year. .They received their awards during the church service. The Junior choir sang for the first time since its organization under the direction of Mrs. Victor OeSterling. Monday evening the church council of Grace church will meet at the parsonage. Tuesday evening of next week the women of Grace church will meet. They have postponed their meeting for one night. Homecoming Tomorrow is the big event of the year--Homecoming with the parade this year at 2:30 p.m. and the game at 3:30 p.m. Tonight there will be many busy people working on floats and hiding them until the. parade tomorrow. Home Bureau News The month of October has been designated as the month for the membership drive in Home Bureau. Three ladies from the Richmond unit attended a pep meeting in Woodstock last week. They were Florence Kane, Ruth Gauger and Phyllis Carlson. Perhaps you would like to come to Home Bureau and don't know what to do. Contact any of these three people and they will be glad to tell you more about Home Bureau. P.T.A. Next Wednesday the grade school P.T.A. will meet at the school. The first grade mothers will serve refreshments and believe me it will be good. There have been rumors that there will be mouth watering, well we can't tell any more, come -and taste for yourself. A. 4-H1 Federation report was given by Neil Zimmerman.
