Friday night except a victory for the home club. • tike so many athletia contests, one can look back on a couple of Efts", that might have changed the Whole picture of the giame. ftotl Bentz had the diefense Spread all over the-lot as lie was trapped and finally got a long, lpng pass '. to the end zone that Was almost a touchdown. You nfever saw-,such' a spread of action. But, the play that turned the !e came early in the second, alf. when; Zion snatched the ball 6n 6 freak, error as the Warriors were' within falling distance of a touchdown. The Warriors looked like n football team on that sustained drive right after half time. The line got down and opened holes and the backs found 'em. • l j>McHenry has some good, rugged Doys in that line. One of these games they are going to get their dander up and show the opposition just, who is boss of the situation. . Graduation took a fine backfield from MCHS last June and it hasn't been easy to mold a new one together. One thing about this group, if they can't make it on the ground they aren't afraid .,fire thai ball through the air. We travel to Crystal Lake Friday night and hope like all get out to post a victory. . OUr players and coaches have been working hard and deserve sortie good fortune along the Way. Zion had a junior halfback named Jim Robenson who could ®ick 'em up and lay 'em down. Ju$t the kind his coach will be happy to see coming back next year. Our little cheerleaders bounced around in-snappy fashion and the band performed real good. We wondered how Director Paul Yanda could get that group coordinated in such a short time. 't^'The Barrington Broncos hadn't been scored upon until they met what must be* a great Palatine eleven and went down 26-14. Crystal Lake trounced Dundee 2?7-6 and Libertyville struck early to beat Woodstock 13 to 0. % THE GfigAT OUTDOORS By Jack Walsh Prospective deer hunters who missed out in the draw for perrJjpits to hunt in Ogle and Winne- Dago counties are being allowed a second chance. . 1 Deer census reports from those two counties indicate that it will be possible to re-issue permits up tb the number of deer harvested to noon of the third day of the' shotgun season which will be Nov. 1, 2, and 3. All persons who applied and received "reject slips" may ob- ^aln* re-issues at 6 A.M. Nov. 2, arid 3 at the Sheriff's Office garage in Oregon in Ogle county and at the Robin Drive-In Theater on U.S. 20 west of Rockford for Winnebago county. Re-issues will be provided in accordance With preference numbers oil the slips, starting with the lowest number present. Hunters must have their "reject slips" lo qualify, • About 7,000 openings are still available. Applications for shotgun hunting will be accepted jip to October 25. Remember the little German short-hair pup, Becker's Smokey. we talked about last week? Well, he took a first place at Michigan last Saturday. There was a ninety- eight dog entry. Heidi, another dog handled by Rudy Becker, won second place award. It looks <vt as if Smokey is wasting no time in going to the top. Dove shooting is starting to *• get a little "spotty." The cooler weather is causing the birds to bunch up for their annual trip south. You do not find too many singles and doubles anymore, but rather flocks of from six to twenty birds. Shooting is not as steady - •as when the weather was warm- Hfer, but the action is mighty fast when a flock soars over. Quail Himting Only Major Change Shown In NOT Gatne Code . ..
