Johnsburg News Wins Title Ardele Oefflin^ was one happy girl last Friday evening when she was crowned Homecoming queen in a ceremony which took place in the McHenry high school gym. Ardele was chosen over the five other competing finalists. Dennis Conway was chosen to reign with Queen Ardele. This good looking couple was crowned by last year's king and queen, Jim Huemann and Jeanette Freund. Our congratulations to Ardele. Subdivision Isolds Meeting The Jak-Ana Heights association held their monthly meeting at the home "of Gerald Wakitsch last Wednesday evening. The members discussed the Tieed for safety signs throughout the subdivision and residential zone siens for the roaad. On Saturdaay the signs were posted. On North Ave there have been two residential district speed signs posted. One is placed just before approaching Hiller's subdivision on, the south and one as you approach Jak-Ana Heights from the North. Please observe these signs and those pjaced throughout the subdivisiop. They have reason for being there. Plans for the second annual Christmas party were also discussed at this meeting. Community Club Meets Somewhere in the neighborhood of sixty-five men gathered at the Cdmmunity club last Monday evening to attend the clubs monthly meeting. Current business was discussed and final plans for the Halloween party on Oct. 30 were arranged. Note! If you haven't got your costume together as yet, you had better get on the ball, as time is getting short. Roast beef and mashed potatoes were served by the committee at the close of the meeting. Miss Mary K; Schmitt and Mrs. Frank Freund were in St. Paul, Minn, for a few days last Week, where they helped their aunt celebrate her eighty-fifth birthday. Some boy scouts from this district attended the "Fall Comporee" which was held near Cooriey Height? over last weekend. The scouts pitched their tents in a wooded area and spent the night camping out. • ' •, Brownie News The Brownie meeting of Oct. 8 held in the Community club hall found all the young girls busy working on the Halloween trimmings. At this particular meeting the girls completed their napkin holders, Barbara Huemann was the hostess for the afternoon and served brownies to all those attending. Around tbe Town John Wenzel and Miss Frieda Doerge of Elgin visited at the Althoff home one evening recently. Mesdames Charolette Reinboldt and Jan Oker of McHenry, Marge •Tune of Solon Mills, and Ruth Martinec, Dorothy and Betty Hettermann enjoyed dinner out last Tuesday evening near Elgin. Jim- Huemann who is attending St. Thomas college in St. Paul. Minn., was home over last weekend, to attend the homecoming festivities at the McHenry high school. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Martinec and son Bobby spent' last Saturday visiting with his parents in Chicago. Hospital Fund Drive In the near future someone will be asking you for a donation for the McHenry hospital fund. This money will be used to finance the construction of a twenty-five to thirty bed addition to the present hospital. Give what you can as every little bit helps.
