The team has been playing real good ball and they're out for a victory. Let's have a big crowd.to witness our slaughtering of Woodstock. Mr. Yanda and the band are planning for the last game. Chevrolet stylists have taken full advantage of nine inches in added length to mold low, fleet beauty into their 1958 models, as shown by this view of the Bel Air sport sedan. Strong eyia-appeal is found in the modish grille, the dual headlamps and low, flat hood. Notable also is an unusual Sculpturamic styling which sup^. plies an air of distinction. A new engine, new frame and two new suspension systems are only a few of the major chassis advances. Station Wagon, Bel Air, Biscayrie and Delray Series are offered. The basketball season will open in ^proximately two weeks with our first game Friday, Nov. 15, at Wauconda. You all did a splenjlid job. Daughters, I know yqji 4|bel the way I do, that this was a night to be cherished in our hearts for a long while. • No more being known as Bethel U. D., but as Bethel 98 of McHenry. What a thrill! And all of you Daughters who joined starting in June at our institution until Oct. 18, have your names on our charter. In years to come you can tell you children and grandchildren that you were ^one of the founders of Bethel 98. ® I congratulate all of our girls for the splendid work tfiey did in making this such a successful and wonderful evening. All of you did your work perfectly. Congratulations also to our guardian Mrs. Harriett Dodd, and our associate guardian, Peter Hastings. They have both gone all-out to make this bethel a success; especially Harriett, I know she has ' given every minute she could possibly afford and then some. Our sincerest thanks, too, to vice guardian Shirley Polen, who travelled from Chicago whenever needed, and even took time off from work to help make us perfect. We were quite thrilled when our grand guardian, Mrs. Helen Harvey, and our associate grand guardian, Arthur Ruichter, found us proficent in our' work. Thanks to all the mothers and dads and all who attended to make this night a memorable one. We had two new girls, Sherry Evans and Darlene Sorenson, who became Daughters that night. Our librarian Nancy Buckner, read a special poem for this event. Q"»r honored i queen, Patricia Bat^s, did herself proud. Pat I'm* tickled pink to know you were my candidate. O.E.S. News by Lillian Bossier by Lillian Bossier As you undoubtedly know, Oct. 22 was a stated and ^special meeting and we had two candidates who received their degrees. Proud to say, one of them was my husband, George A. Bossier, and the other was Sister Olga Lishamer's husband, Irving A. Lishamer. I'm sure these new members will be an asset to our order. Our next meeting is on Nov. 12. A stated meeting and election night. Won't you all turn out so that you know just what happens? Nov. 12 is our big night. The choosing of new officers should always be of interest to everyone. We have taken in quite a few new members this past year, and they, too, are privileged to voice an opinion. Our meeting after election night will fall on Nov. 26, which will be a stated meeting. Latin Club The Latin club, which is made Up of all Latin II students, held its first meeting of the year. They played scrabble in Latin and voted on officers. The officers are: Copresidents, Karen Thompson and Judy Hans; secretary, Barbara Krickl; and treasurer, Paule Granger. Tests show- that not one soybean cyst nematode has been found on Illinois soil thus far. The cyst nematode is regarded as one of the major threats to Illinois farming. It is capable of destroying entire soybean crops and, according to Director Stillman Stanard of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, is too dangerous even to bring into the state for research purposes. Stanard reported that soil samples from 16,000 acres on 555 Illinois farms have been tested in a special state laboratory on the state . fairgrounds. "The results show there-is no cause for immediate alarm," he said. He urged all Illinois farmers to con* suit, their farm advisers to acquaint themselves with the details of the problem."
