Trustee John Boyle, who is the zoning commissioner, reported on the city planning meeting which he and president J. R. Levesque attended in Woodstock. Thursday, Nov. 21. Because of the tremendous rate of growth, in McHenry County, sound, practical lay-outs for towns and villages is a necessity. Proper school sites, and business areas will, be centrally located to serve the greatest number of residents. Every town and village will have a voice in the county as far as encouraging the right kind of industry and keeping undesirable Ones put. This planning will be on a county .vide basis so the over all picture will be properly laid out. A month's span between board meetings proved to be too long in order to carry on the proper function of the village. Council meetings are back on schedule-- the second and fourth Monday of every month. Mr. McGee and Mr. Patzke, invited guests, informed the board of the new mailing route. The change could not go into effect until permission was granted from the federal government, and this has been received. . Ed Hammerstein's letter of resignation was read and deferred until the next meeting which will be held, Monday, Dec. 9, at 8 pjn, Why not plan to attend? You will be PROPERLY informed as to the workings of your government. Death oA the Highways And how to prevent it--was the main topic of discussion at the safety planning luncheon held at Crystal Lake on Monday, Nov. 25. It was sponsored by the McHenry County safety commission. Experts from the U. S. Government and representatives from Springfield were present. The village was represented by J. R. Levesque. The. discussion dealt with the three E's--namely, education, engineering, and enforcement of safety. McHenry county is n the top four in the state with a record number of highway deaths. We've already exceeded last year's statistics. with, two more holidays to go! Slaughter on the highways, has caused grief and bereavement in too many of our local families already. Proper education and exercising much care may help to protect more innocent victims from becoming. nation-wide statistics. Plenty of company for the baby with one sister, Nancy, and three brothers, Jimmy, Tommy and Jackie to -play with. , The Morrises traded in their small car for a "large type" red and white station wagon to accommodate the enlarged family.
