McCullom Lake News Eve Levesque Council Meeting TTie turn-out at the last meeting of the village board, Monday, Dec. 9 was excellent! FOR THE GOOD OF THE COMMUNITY, it would be gratifying if every meetwas as well attended. The resignation of Ed Hammerstein as village »trustee, dated 11-16-57 which had been tabled, was re-read and accepted by the board members. Because of a job commitment, Dave Hansen tendered his resignation as chief of police. This means, of course, that there are two positions which the village board must fill by appointment. Chuck Miller, township road commissioner was present and different aspects of the village road program were discussed. Mr. Miller answered questions in regard to road construction. Later in the week, president J. R. Lev-- esque met with Waldimar Rakow, engineer for "the village, and Mr. Miller to discuss the re-surfacing of Eastwood Drive in the spring. In order to protect the investment in this street, it would be advisable. A figure will probably be submitted at the next meeting. Mrs. Pyritz, village clerk, reported that residents have been very co-operative about calling for house numbers. A severe jolt in an automobile accident apparently caused no harm to the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joacquin Hewitt of Griswold Lake. Saturday morning, Dec. 14, at 7:05 a.m., Adrienne Ruth made her . appearance at Memorial hospital, Woodstock in excellent condition. The wee one weighed a mere 5 lbs. 9 oz. The prayers of this couple were truly answered for they already have three boys. Mrs. Hewitt had been home from Great Lakes hospital about two weeks before the birth of the baby. Mother and daughter were, due to be released from Memorial hospital yesterday, Wednesday. The baby will be turned over to Mrs. Ruth McGinley for care while Mrs. Hewitt goes back to Great Lakes hospital to be put into a cast which she will be wearing for three to six months. Ginger has certainly had her share I of travail but we sincerely hope that her recovery will be rapid ! and without further incident. • Appropriate decorations made the occasion more festive. A beautiful green, nylon net Christmas tree trimmed with many colored baubles graced the table. It was provided by Mrs. Katie Lennert. A huge Santa Claus face cake, baked by Mrs. * Betty Poledna brought forth many ohs and ahs from the assembled group. Other cakes were provided by Julia Hecht, Lois Parenti, and Marie Howe. Eggnog was consumed during the playing of the games. The ladies welcomed Mrs. Pearl Padelford. Marie Howe's sisterin- law, with open arms.
