Mrs. Behrendt served dinner to friends and relatives honoring her on her birthday. .Relatives from out of town included the honored guests' sister and son. Harold, her only son, resides with his family in -Arlington Heights. Mrs. Behrendt's sister, Mrs. Philip Enck, and husband are from Chicago. Moved Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Watson and family have left our community this past week. They have been residents here for the past year and a half. Mr.. Watson was employed locally as a mechanic. Flower Girl Vallerie Schiavone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donaid Schiavone, had . the honor of being flower girl at her ! juncle's wedding. Personals Mrs. Lillian Kopsell was called out of town, when her daughter Ruth was taken suddenly to the hospital. Ruth underwent surgery, so Mrs. Kopsell took on the job of baby sitter. Lillian' reports Ruth is home now and doing fine. Mr. and Mrs. William Burns and family spent last weekend in Chicago. Besides visiting with friends and relatives, the "whole family took a tour of the Field Museum. This was the children's first trip to a museum. Enjoying it so much, they plan on going back real soon. Frisby died at his home ju$t east of this city Wednesday evening and death took Mrs. Laura Colby at her .farm home west of town last evening. Degen, son of the Henry Degens, has been promoted to corporal at Camp Grant. Fred Heuser, who has been employed in the East Side Meat market, left Wednesday for Chicago, where he has accepted a position. The township board of health wishes to state that every case of whooping cough and chicken pox, now so prevalent, must be reported to them as it is compulsory that they make weekly reports. The pupils of the McHenry public school will present a program at the school auditorium Feb. 27. One-half of the receipts will go to the local Red Cross and the other half to the school library fund. Peter Freund, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Math Freund of Johnsburg, .passed away at his home there Sunday evening at the age of twenty-eight. wife Nora, 32, and her daughter by formermarriage Darlene Eatinger, 5, were burned to death when fire destroyed their cottage at Siocum Lake Feb. 11. Mrs. Florence Howe Wray, 61, of Elgin a former local resident, passed away in St. Joseph's hospital, Elgin, Monday, after a lingering illness. GAS COMPANY'S RECORD BROKEN TWO COLD DAYS Northern Illinois Gas company's twenty-four hour sendout record was broken on both Sunday and Monday, Feb. 9 and 10, during current cold wave. The former record of 461 millidn cubic feet of gas used during a noon-to-noon period on Jan. 17, 1957, first was exceeded on Feb. 9 by about six million cubic feet, and the newest peak came Feb. 10 as 485 million cubic feet was used by the utility's approximate 600,- 000 customers. This includes, about 247,000 who heat their homes with gas, approximately 18,000 more than when the 1957 record was established. According to E. D. Sheehan, vice-president in charge of operations, the utility used its daily pipeline supply of about 350 million cubic feet during both record - breaking periods as well as approximately 111 million cubic feet the first day, and 132 million the second, from the Herscher underground storage reservoir.
